Why would I WANT to disrupt the general? It's natural that intentionally and repeatedly misspelling the name of our country and general will draw ire from users. I'd much prefer if we didn't have to argue about this every time somebody (usually the same couple of users) took it upon themselves to irritate members of /éire/, but it's a line in the sand as far as I'm concerned. No legitimate reason has been given for the misspelling (inb4 Firefox search; just search "ire", it's not that hard).

Depending on what things are like, this could be my last few days of freedom before having to start a PLC course. I'd have to get some kind of job to do every Wednesday as part of it too. I don't like the hours, they're just like secondary school but we're not allowed to interact with the kids so our lunch time is different.
The only thing that could save me is if I get a college course offer on Friday. It won't happen any earlier than Friday because of how the CAO handles available place applications.
I'm not even sure if college would be as educational as the PLC, since in the PLC we'd be learning about advanced hardware and networking and learning C programming language, and I'm not sure what an undergrad course in compsci would entail. But on the other hand, the PLC seems really oppressive and it'll be depressing since it'd only be me and a few other people. I really hope I get the news I'm looking for on Friday.

PLC courses are fine. They're fairly laid back but they go on for too long and you're forced to do a shit module like communications.

You'll almost certainly get an offer for university at the end of it too when you re-apply with the PLC results on the cao.

URL convention is for upper case and accents to be removed. You're not naming the country you're naming the general in the form of a sanitised URL directory name as it is across all of 4chan and the reason why we use a backslash on either side of it. Éire is fine but /Éire/ or /éire/ is not. If anything the use the éire is added to the thread to appease people like you who seem unwilling to understand or accept this.
For the same reason the website of our state broadcaster is rte.ie and not rté.ie

Who the hell searches for /éire/ threads by url? The url is irrelevant to the discussion. You're really stretching to justify the misspelling now. Just search the catalog for "ire" or switch to any browser than isn't Firefox.
>>
>>79163623
It's thread naming convention on 4chan, why do you think the backslashes are there? It's semantically incorrect to include accents in that convention.
As I said you could remove them and just call the thread Éire but you'd probably complain about that as well.

Except the backslashes as general titles on /int/ are just tradition at this stage. An unnecessary one as you said, but everybody does it so there's no issue. And just as the slashes are unnecessary, so is making the thread title adhere to url conventions. As such, the titles should adhere to the correct spelling of the general's name because there is no penalty for doing so.
>>
>>79163846

Even if that includes misspelling the name of our country and general? No other general does this - why should we support the whims of retarded OPs?

Also, if you're gonna keep moving the goalposts, we might as well just end this here.
>>
>>79163513
>same reason the website of our state broadcaster is rte.ie and not rté.ie
This is incorrect. The reason for this is because the IE domain registry didn't previously accept fadas in the domain name.
This changed late last year and now you can. And you can browse to rté.ie and it will carry you to the RTÉ site.
Could if I wanted reserve the name bóards.ie and it would be separate to boards.ie.
>>
>>79164094
>we might as well just end this here.
Agreed since you keep repeating the same question despite it being explained already.
Even if you refuse to accept that explanation I think what you're doing is showing a lack of respect to the OP and other posters here by continuously raising such a shitstorm on the same issue.
An "issue" which has been present for many months now no less and oddly for something you appear to be so principled on you chose to say nothing about until a week ago.

>>79164110
It was never an option due to no demand and would never have been taken even if it was since even in a thread like this of young people familiar with the internet it still frequently has to be explained how to type a fada. Many sites will set up a redirect for a fada version as RTE have done to prevent typosquatting.

>I think what you're doing is showing a lack of respect to the OP and other posters here by continuously raising such a shitstorm on the same issue.
I don't think that people who intentionally misspell our country's name for no good reason necessarily deserve respect.

Which are all connected reasoning. It's not a misspelling if you name threads with a directory naming convention as is traditional on 4chan and as the OP may have done.
It's valid reasoning and so is yours, if you made a thread with simply /Éire/ I would not enter it with the intent of disrupting, complaining or shitposting since you have your reasons for that as well.

The 12-2pm window was when a new thread used to be made and there would be a brief flurry of activity until things quietened down again until 7pm.

3-4 threads a day wasn't unheard of.

Thats what I mean. There's nobody around until after 12 midday.
Before that there might be 5 posts an hour if we're lucky.
>hen why are you lamenting the loss of /realautismhours/? It was that which kept the threads active until 4am or so.
Because I either go to sleep very late, or I wake up at 3am. Either way they're dead at those hours and I end up bored with nobody to talk to.

I check the thread in the morning. You should try more conversation starters in them since the early posts are usually the sort of "first for..." kind of drive bys that don't give anything to talk about.
It used to be easier to post in the morning when threads didn't die overnight since there were posts made while I was asleep to read and reply to, the general was probably at its best when we had that 24 hour presence.

Some weird guy called me over from far away and said he knew me from school. I didn't recognise him at all. I would have assumed it was some sort of trick if not for the fact that he knew my name. I don't have any sort of social media or anything so he couldn't have seen a picture of me online with my name on it. It's bizarre that he seemingly recognised me from so far away, especially as I had long hair for most of secondary school, but maybe he recognised me from my jacket? Looking back on it, I didn't even ask his name, I really should have but he ended the conversation quite quickly.

I never really liked him at all. He liked Dublin for some bizarre reason and complained an awful lot.

It's not, my sister studied in Trinity and said her and others from the country had to withhold certain interests and behaviour for fear it would feed into the culchie stereotype they hold which they mock relentlessly and associate it with being uncivilised and uneducated.
They have some very strange ideas over there, she even met a hostel owner who was surprised she spoke fluent English due to coming from "down the country".

Speaking of trinity I met this fat fuck lad once at a thing I was working at, somehow to the conversation changed to uni and stuff and he started going on about how he wanted to get into nursing so he did a PLC.
He went on to say how he didn't get the results he wanted and how he had to appeal them and have a "talk" with the college about how his daddy was a solicitor and how he deserved to be graded better.

Never met a more insufferable fat piece of shit in my life. No surprise he applied to Trinity.

Hurling is a lot more popular in Dublin than the vast majority of the rest of the country.

It's not at all, even the Dublin Football supporters don't follow the game at all outside of their own team.

Dublin is one of the few genuine dual counties with a strong underage scene. I'd question your knowledge of GAA, and consequently as an Irish person, with your lack of knowledge on the matter.

I'm not denying that. It's the claim that Tipperary does the same that I'd disagree with. "Hurley" is far more common in the big Munster Hurling counties.

Does any radio station have a non middle aged audience? Al Porter hardly appeals to middle aged people either. I'd say he has a young listener base.

It's literally considered to be a dual county and they're better currently than other dual countys and they're likely to remain better given the huge investment by the Dublin GAA since it's introduction to the county and their greater resources. This is common knowledge to people who follow the GAA.

Man who made my hurls calls them a hurl and he's an All Ireland winner.

Why are Kilkenny so good at hurling?
>>
>>79178165
Those rankings only really exist for the League. Based on Championship performance (which is all that really matters in reality), last year Tipperary were the best dual sport county. This year it was probably Cork.
>>
>>79178221
Why? No one else agrees with you? They've always played gaelic in the south of Tipp, they were shite for 90 years and will probably remain shite. Like that year Waterford footballers went on a bit of a roll.
>>
>>79178367
I meant that it contradicted the article.
>>
>>79178299
Part of it definitely has to do with their complete disregard for Football from a club level upwards.

>>79178367
>they were shite for 90 years and will probably remain shite
Why do you refuse to acknowledge that the Tipp Football team performed well last year? Is it because it conflicts with your Dub bootlicking?
>>
>>79178299
Because it's bet into them. They're born with a hurl in their hands
From toddler age they're playing with hurls. They beat it into them year around. There's no stopping in the training for winter or other times of the year.
People will give up their job, studies, take days off to attend training or a match. It's just pure passion.
There's no such thing as being part of two different clubs. You're either playing hurling, or not. If you're playing soccer or some other sport then forget about it. The hurling team don't want you.

The GAA used to ban you from playing if you were associated with rugby in any way.
>>
>>79178490
That's a ridiculous stance, we're a sporting country and playing politics on the sport of preference is silly.
>>
>>79178430
I know they did. And Laois and Offaly are both shite yet they're still dual counties for historic reasons. No one, literally no one considers Tipp a dual county but one lad in these threads who doesn't fully understand the term, who refuses to admit they were initially wrong about Dublin and seems to get upset about any mention of the place. They are probably the same person who threw a tantrum in this thread earlier about the naming conventions.
>>
Personally feel like the GAA breeds a culture of disrespect and anti-social behavious.

>>79178714
Could be said for most team sports since they encourage tribalism.
