Why do the British make the best music?
>>79115894
because they can speak english
>>79115894
This is a masterful troll because it states a general truth and presents as an example an obvious non-example which most people with taste know to be a non-example. 8/10 would kek again and I'll feed you but I see through you dude.
I like uummm Brian Eno better
>>79115972
Brian Eno is a total bore, and I like ambient music.
>>79115894
implying they make better music than the great SWEDISH EMPIRE...
Serious, per capita sweden gets the gold no question.
First for Ireland
>>79115997
This is a horrible opinion. Even Mexico has great stuff via the Vaporwave meme. Take some pride in your cunt anon!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N0T2ghW44o
The mexican man who mixed this great album has more funk and soul in his little finger than all of the Swedes in Abba combined.
What, Refused? One decent punk album, fine. Feh.
>>79115894
I second this
>>79115995
His 4 70s rock albums (including Another Green World) are masterpieces tho

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixA_fC-cLzQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7DvsG5U25A :^) (It's the total dirty IR aesthetic and so is ultimately down to UK aesthetics because the maker was in an Angloboo mood, see above)
They really and truly do make the best music, overall.
>>79115894
Because it's heavily promoted and pimped because of cultural relevance of English.
imo america has both the greatest concentration and the greatest amount of the best albums ive heard with britain second and japan and denmark being notable too
>>79116178
Another Green World is the worst offender in terms of being boring. It's a total nostalgia-meme that doesn't hold up at-all.
>I'll come running to tie your shoes, boring little ditty-melody keeps repeating without being obnoxious, just elevator music
ugh
>>79116259
Uhh, i forgot i was talking to a pleb
>>79116259
Now you're just talking out of your ass
>>79116221
Even the Polish jazz band "Pink Freud" does these cool jazz covers of Autechre, another great British group:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2QqCtKJh0E
I want to support Pink Freud by buying their album of covers of my favorite group, a British group.
>>79116307
>>79116321
Another Green World is absolutely dull on its own merits and neither of you gentlemen are white. Fucking fight me.
>>79115894
>Coldplay
Nah, you can't headbang to that pansy ass shit. Right country, wrong era/genre of music.
>>79115894
Ripping off black musicians from Jamaica and the US and repackaging that music for dumb white Americans.
>>79116385
>and neither of you gentlemen are white
my God
>>79116385
You're missing many details such as the synths arrangements and how each on of the tracks have juxtapositions respecting to their previous and next ones.
The ending of the album is incredibly climactic thanks to interposing tender synths with tragic arrangements in the last two tracks
>>79116478
No I'm not. This is what you have to tell yourself in order to defend your own taste.
Music theory and subtle arrangements do not great music make. They CAN, but not necessarily. And in this case, they fail and bore totally. I am right.
>>79115927
fpbp
>>79116544
Not arguments but whatever fits your case
Another Green World still stands as one of the greatest albums released in the mid 70s, which isn't an achievement in itself but still
>>79115894
Americans are creative and enterprising, we created a multitude of genres which changed the way the earth listenened to music.
But Brits are intellectual, witty and poetic, and speak the same language as us to boot, so they recognized the greatness of what we had made, but took it and molded it into a true artform.
This is objectively correct and butthurt will not change that.
>>79116599
British music comes of as more whiney though
Some bands like PiL are pretty good at exploring sound and making interesting music, but the rest is more sentimental than anything.
I prefer american music since is more pragmatic and bold with their statements
African Americans make the best music.
>>79116579
They most certainly are arguments. There is plenty of boring music which hasn't stood the test of time which nevertheless had meticulous effort taken over its craft. Lots of heavy metal music falls under this category - "oh I worked so hard on it oh the layers" - nope, it's still boring and void. Same with Another Green World, which does not transcend easy listening...*
In an effort to make some sort of common ground, I was even about to compliment you on your general musical opinion of the 1970s but then I re-read what you wrote (because initially I misread it) and now I know even better that you really do have poor taste, because you put down 1970s music in a general way when in fact it was a great decade for music. So this just reinforces your poor taste.
Ironic that an Argentinian should prove to have such poor musical taste in a thread which is all about the superiority of British music, which is also the case.
>>79116599
Black people created the different genres from America.
They were shit at classic
Name one good british classic composer
>>79116599
The only genres America made that are worth listening too are blues and rock and roll and the British did a damn fine job of taking both and making them better.
>>79116689
A stone-cold classic, played at its PROPER "not too fast" tempo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Hp1Y8R_dCw
and another
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd60nI4sa9A
However, as even you must be aware, black music is totally nihilistic today. They really are god-damn geniuses at inventing music, all memes aside. There's plenty to hate about them, but their capacity for music is a redeeming quality to them.
>>79116702
The 70s is one of the most overrated decades of music and the mid 70s was the most skeletal of it
It's most of it rockist improvisation that later ended up handicapping the original forward thinking movements such as minimal electronic like Klaus Schulze
Brian Eno's output wasn't stellar, a lot of it is inconsistent, but after Discreet Music his vision was already well established, somewhat deluded after mid 80s
Another Green World I'd a good album. It has a well constructed progression through it, it's well paced, and catches attention when it claims for it.
I'd like for you to give an argument sustaining why it's boring
>>79116722
not mentioning jazz
>not taking pleasure at the mental image of making Europoop Theodor Adorno spin in his grave when sweet Ella jams with German musicians
Now when you want your piano to go QUICK-ly, FATS is who you see!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIFoAwJPtm4
And now, let's please hear from the great Ella, in merry old Deutschland, with her "strange-music"!

Japanese make the best music:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoQ9HFpu5Q8
>>79116889
The Japanese are the biggest posers.
>>79116722
that's what I said though anon
>no country
it was a GOAT genre before it became about muh tractors and muh pickup trucks you pleb
>>79116800
BECAUSE IT'S FUCKING BORING, THAT'S FUCKING WHY.
You're like a bullied kid who goes back up to his bully and asks his bully why his bully is being such a mean bully. At some point you deserve it.
>>79116966
That's not how you argue
>>79116992
That's exactly what our media said against our current president, every step of the way. And then he won.
Success is your proof for how rhetoric actually works.
>>79115894
>english songs
>popular only in anglo countries
>why are english songs the best
are you retarded wite boi?
>>79116966
What makes it boring
>>79117049
You seem retarded beyond repair, but i'll reply to you anyways because i have nothing to do right now.
Your president won because he said shit ignorant people wanted to hear. That's what a demagogue does. I thought you were better than us and wouldn't fall for such an obvious demagogue, but well, times are changing, i guess.
And sure, we are assuming he "won", because the only reason he did is because of your outdated electoral system, since he didn't win the popular vote.
>it's another "thread devolving into trump shit" episode
le sigh
>>79116719
"Shit" at classic?
The British may not have produced greats in such quantity as the Germanic countries, but calling them "shit" is in poor taste. Personally I like John Stanley, a baroque composer. The man was a contemporary of George Handel, who also considered him skilled enough to work alongside. Edward Elgar was also highly skilled, and is among my favorite late Romantic composers.
>>79116964
True.
>>79116844
>implying Ray Charles and Jerry Lee Lewis weren't faster than Fats Domino
>>79116669
Also
Autechre is fucking great and debunks what I said here
