Why is India SO dirty?

Depends on where you go, honestly.

I'm from the United States and have been to India eight times.

A lot of the cities in the north are considerably more dirty than their counterparts elsewhere. Even here in Pune, there's much less garbage in the streets than many upscale areas in New Delhi.

Also, poor people, lack of waste management infrastructure, corruption, etc, etc.
