I'm currently working as a cashier and is say most people who deal with me and my white co-workers treat us exactly the same for the most part.
I've been called a nigger multiple times outside of work and it's pretty depressing. Usually people who are openly racist aren't capable of thinking up insults on the fly, so they'll just repeat "nigger" over and over. Id love to hear something interesting that I haven't heard, like "shit bathing mud monkey" or SOMETHING. I've been on 4chan long enough that nigger doesn't do anything for me anymore.

I haven't encountered visible discrimination by the government myself. I've never even had an encounter with the police.
That's not to say it doesn't exist though
