Yeah. From the cradle we are taught that you're the moustache-twirling evil final boss. I used to believe it too up until the early 90s. Then came the waaaargh!s from the balkans and then the Middle East who introduced me to the cultural alternatives. I decided that America has actually solid values. These values built a country so robust that it can affort to take care even of it's dead weight. You can get fat, you can say whatever you want, you can do almost whatever you want, you can be whatever you want more often than not, you can have nice things. America has and upholds a high educational and medical standard. It has a high cultural output. The Ammendments are great cornerstones that every society should have. Both because of what they are about and because they are fairly unbypassable.
Sure America has it's many flaws and issues, but currently the grass doesn't get much greener than that.
The only things I hate about America are it's foreign politics (including CIA dickery) and being monumentally influencial while also being the breeding ground for cancer of the mind.

Hope you visit Gotland (big island off the coast) and my town Visby here.
We have tons of great history, museums, medieval buildings and castles.
If you are into history and culture the Medieval week happens every year ( week 32/ August) the entire town of Visby is turned into a medieval city. With actual armed guards, king, royal family and tournaments.
Might seem a little nerdy but it's great fun.
I have a tent with era correct tools I make my self every year for sale.
