Hey /int/, I live in Ottawa, a city where learning French helps you a lot when looking for jobs.
Would it be better for me to learn it by attending some type of class or course, or should I just stick with books/the internet/foreign movies?

if you really wanna learn it, real courses are important bc french grammar is hard
if you just wanna talk in french for gaming of mundane shit then just stick with internet

One thing doesn't exclude the other, courses are the best for grammar and they become fundamental after B1 (at least for languages which aren't english, for which there are so much material that it just isn't comparable). I would advise you to learn at least the basic things by yourself (A1/A2) and then proceed with a group course, while still studying with other media, till you reach B2. For C1/C2 IMO the best option is a private tutor, but it gets boring after a while. Reaching a C1 should be enough though, C2 comes with practice.
if you're from ottawa do you know francine mccrae?
