I think they consider themselves closer to Scotland, especially the outer Hebrides, than anyone else. We don't hear from the often, last interaction I can think of was Dev visiting the island and being disappointed that the Manx language was dying out quicker than expected.
>>78920011
>Is Mann more Irish more British?
The place itself is more British but the Manx language is related closer to ours than any of the Brythonic Celtic languages for what it's worth. Although they don't learn it in school as far as I know

If you have internet access and are looking for airbnbs not long, but you should really book one in advance.
Have you ever booked one before?

>Have you ever booked one before?
Nope
>airbnb
Isn't that for tourists tho? My plan is staying there for a long time. I'll start looking for a room as soon as I get a job in the city (I won't be picky in any way with that tho, I'll look for kitchen porter type jobs). Until then, I guess I'll live in a hostel or something.

>>78922387
What do you mean by a room? Rent in Dublin is extremely expensive.
I've never stayed in a hostel in Dublin but based on the prevailing narrative they're full of homeless drug addicts and probably quite dangerous.

>What do you mean by a room?
I mean a room in a shared flat or house like I'm a student. I've lurked draft.ie and shit and they're like 500 a month in Dublin 5, around 700 in Dublin 1.
>Rent in Dublin is extremely expensive
I do know. Kitchen porter wages seem to be too, right? Minimum wage is around 1200 for a full time job isn't it?
>>78922794
Are things really so bad in Spain you're willing to relocate to Dublin and work full-time as a kitchen porter despite how expensive it is?
If you can find a job that is?
>>78923084
40% youth unemployment buddy.
From what I've heard it's quite easy to find a shitty job in Dublin. I just want to take a break from college in order to read and practice on other things on my own while not being a NEET living in my pops'. I can't do that in Spain, not even as a kitchen porter. Also improving my English and shit.
>>78923239
You seem quite proficient at English already, but from experience, not to be rude, Spanish accents are quite awful.
What're you studying? Have you considered studying here? I think it's free for EU citizens and you might be eligible for grants.
>>78923394
Nah I outrageously lack fluency when it comes to oral communication. You're probably right about the accent.
>What are you studying?
As useless as it is, History. That's one of the reasons why I don't feel like just staying here and finishing my studies.
>Have you considered studying here?
Not really tho. I'm poor. Only way I can afford living in Dublin is working in Dublin and getting Dublin paid.

>>78935834
Jesus, Louth and Kildare have shit-tier crests. What happened to their history?
Why are the rugby crests so much better than the GAA ones?
>>78935749
I like the Saint Brigid's cross design, compared with the other "logo" crests it's better than Carlow, though that isn't saying much, but not as good as Kildare in my opinion. Still, crests based on the county's coat of arms will always be better.
>>78935932
>but not as good as Kildare in my opinion
Kildare's looks like the logo of a small town sports centre though.
>>78935901
>I've been doing that a lot more since I got a contactless card. I used to hardly ever pay by card in the past, now I do it about 50% of the time. I still like cash though.
I don't mind having notes in a wallet but coins are a real pain to carry around and just wind up in a pile in my room or in my car. So much easier to pay by card.
>>78935901
Changing crests or sponsors means a new jersey so people will buy the new one. It's a good way to get money
>>78935909
Probably because Munster fans are such knackers they had to redesign the crest to stop all the counterfeiting.
>>78936013
I use up all my coins at self-service machines in supermarkets. It's still legal tender. Better than letting it go to waste.
>>78936019
Changing crests also means abandoning your history, so successful GAA counties are unlikely to do it.
>>78935999
The old Kildare crest was really nice.
>>78935999
I'm not saying it's good, just that their rendition of St. Brigid's cross looks better than Louth's.
While we're on the subject I don't think it's fair that the left man on the Kilkenny crest doesn't get a hurl, how's he supposed to play? Can't blame them for not using county Kilkenny's coat of arms as it's a bit shit but Kilkenny town has a nice one they could use.
>>78935624
I see it more as motivation, besides I don't have anything better to do atm
>>78936061
It was redesigned to capture the ideal of the proud and territorial stag instead of just being 3 crowns that vaguely represented ancient lords.
The GAA should consider doing the same and have crests which represent an ideal instead of just slapping some boats and old buildings beside a hurley.
>>78936077
>Changing crests also means abandoning your history, so successful GAA counties are unlikely to do it
It's fair to say inter-county football isn't too taken seriously here
>>78936259
No.
>>78935348
>Was it worth it?
Despite all the negatives that caught up with me, yes.
Louth actually does have a nice coat of arms. There's something refreshing about a hand that isn't red.
So what Irish town has the best Crest?
>>78936595
Galway.
>>78936564
That's actually a really nice crest. No idea why they wouldn't use it.
>>78936595
Not all towns have crests. County crests would be a better comparison.
>>78936595
Do people know the town crests other than their own? I can't think of other ones from the top of my head
>>78936734
The most I know is the colours of one town near me because I played football with them when I was in secondary there.
>>78936712
>No idea why they wouldn't use it
My guess is some "modern means good" bullshit.
>County crests would be a better comparison
Depends on the place, I don't like like county Galway's crest as much as the Galway city's. It has the hooker on it which is good I suppose but something about the other one looks nicer, maybe it's the crazed lion trying to figure out how to sail.
I know I'm not the only one with this opinion either since the Galway GAA crest is based on the city instead of the county.
Saw that Magnum tub ad finally.
>>78936734

>>78937095

>>78937353
I think I act a little weird around people, but I can't pinpoint what
>>78937371
Quite like the fishes
When I was a child I thought that this flag was an airplane viewed from the front. I suppose there are some tribes in Africa that worshiped airplanes and tried building runways to try to make them come back.
>>78937426
It's a weird thing in the North, they like putting fishes, boars and the towns who had Templar castles put round crosses on their crests for some reason, southerners put lions on them in all shapes and sizes
Is it unique to Irish people how our ancestry works, in contrast to say most feudal or Western countries? There isn't anyone that can really trace their heritage back to some noble house because Ireland was ruled by England for centuries, and we don't have the whole muh huritage thing that colonials have where they can trace their ancestors back to different places and jobs.
Plus we are all part of a clan as opposed to some smaller family unit, and each of these clans owned a different part of the country.
>>78937526
I can see how one might think it looks like the front view of a plane if they had no concept of three dimensions

Yes, but this is worse
>>78946126
I had to sit beside a gay D4 14 year old on the train last week who spent the whole time being a fucking bent queer. I can assure you it was worse.
>>78946085
Thankfully never had to experience such a thing.

Was thinking I'd like to be a veterinary nurse.
>>78946749
Pretty sure you'll be depressed in no time
>>78946722
You can expect the same tomorrow too
What a nice evening out.
>>78946783
No doubt I would. Shame I'd have to do 3-4 years of university. Maybe in the future.
>>78946806
Absolutely lovely
>>78946749
>love animals
>become vet
>all you do is put down old dogs and kill horses
>>78946807
Mortician is a nice job too
>>78946749
Wish I had become a pilot when I had the chance
>>78946860
I wouldn't mind that. It's all part of the job.
You'd get to help a lot of animals too.
>>78946864
Do you mean funeral home person? That job sounds terrible desu. I'd rather be a pathologist or something.
>>78946912
It's never to late to do anything you know. Pilot is stupidly hard to become though. A friend of mine became one. It's a horrific. Plus it's hard to get a good job starting off. you'll end up working for the likes of Ryanair who will treat you like shit and charge you money for working for them.
The dark theme on youtube is actually really nice. Though it does beg the question of why it took this long for it to exist, especially since they used to implement it for one day a year back in the old days.
>doorbell rings.
Nah.
>>78947176
Who could it be?
>>78947146
Not sure if I can go back to the other youtube
>>78947338
>Who could it be?
Don't know. Don't care. Could be a very close relative that went out of their way to visit, but I'm not going to answer the door ever unless I'm expecting somebody.
>>78947338
At the very least it makes it easier to look at. Don't like that the side bar seems to take longer to pop up now. Still, it's a nice silver lining.
What did you lot do today?
>>78947385
You sound like my sister, can't remember how many times she would make me answer the door when I was just wearing my underwear because for some reason she refuses to answer it, no matter who it is
>>78947532
I like it because when I sit at my PC at night with the window open, the bright theme tends to attract the mosquitos a lot more
>>78947605
>she would make me answer the door when I was just wearing my underwear
Fuck sake put on some clothes, both of you. Or at least keep a dressing gown nearby.
I was typing a reply to lux and my power cut. Fuck lads what am I going to do. Only have 40% battery on my phone too.
Might as well kill myself.

Work.
>You sound like my sister, can't remember how many times she would make me answer the door when I was just wearing my underwear because for some reason she refuses to answer it, no matter who it is
I don't make anybody else answer it. I just point blank ignore it. It's so rude to be calling over or ringing the house phone unannounced. I see it happening a lot less once our parents generation die out.
Usually it's somebody bothering you or trying to sell crap anyway. Even if it is a relative or neighbor I don't exactly want to talk to them anyway.
Was on the bus and some American kept staring at me and my gf and making weird noises.
>>78948379

Nice bait
I hope Bus Éireann go on strike again just to end these bus posts.
Made noises at some weirdo and his anime girl pillow on the bus

Would you feel better if we chipped in to give you a Graf fig?
>>78949058
I never knew what I wanted to do. In secondary I said I wanted to be an architect because I liked líniocht but by Leaving Cert I was sick of it. Now I'm doing nothing and none of my dreams are compatible with reality.
>>78949302
I say we go on an /éire/ scuba diving trip to the site of the real Graf Zeppelin. Or does that count as 3DPG?
>>78949215
I was already NEET for about a year in the past and that didn't help at all. I just got lucky in getting the job that I did afterwards, even though it's not something I'm interested in or enjoy.
>>78949302
No, I learnt that material possessions don't really make me happy. I like having money, sure - but that's moreso for the security it offers rather than what I can buy with it. I have very few personal items in my current residence.
>>78949328
>Now I'm doing nothing and none of my dreams are compatible with reality.
I know that feel desu.
Imagine making it to 25+ without ever getting a job or doing anything. I reckon there's no coming back from that.
>>78949204
Stop taking drugs.
>>78949510
Jacques doesn't do drugs, he's the most straightedge person here.
>>78949498
You're probably right. People like that should just kill themselves. There must be something seriously wrong with them to get to that point.
>>78949417
Did you feel happier when you were in France?
>>78949417
>I just got lucky in getting the job that I did afterwards, even though it's not something I'm interested in or enjoy.
Why did you accept a job you weren't interested in?
>>78949498
There's an abnormal number of those around with the recession and supposed "lost generation", they should be well able for many minimum wage jobs to build up the experience for something better.
>>78949559
It's AA.
>>78949510
I thought Jaques was the autist druggie from Waterford?
>>78949559
What's your drug history like?
>>78949674
Don't bully.
>>78949689
That's AA. Jacques is what Karen calls Froggy.
>>78949639
>they should be well able for many minimum wage jobs to build up the experience for something better.
How pathetic it would be to have a minimum wage job at that age. You don't experience for something better by that age, people just stagnate in them.
>>78949720
Is that so? They seem so alike though.
>>78949674
Jacques is the one who posts CC and other Code Geass characters, though.
>>78949713
I don't do drugs. If I was ever so depressed I'd watch anime, wank, watch movies, play a game, or lay in bed until my body got bored of staring at the ceiling.
>>78949713
What?
>>78949613
Yeah, but that was moreso because my workload was less and I was removed from reminders of my failure in life back home.
>>78949639
>Why did you accept a job you weren't interested in?
Because I badly needed a job and I hate job-hunting. I'd already had a number of unsuccessful interviews before my current job landed on my lap.
>>78949749
But they are nothing alike and they hate each other. How new are you?
>>78949745
>How pathetic it would be to have a minimum wage job at that age
Nobody cares what your wage is. Most people wouldn't even think about it.
>You don't experience for something better by that age, people just stagnate in them.
At 25 your career is just beginning. What kind of mindset must one have to give up on life at such a tender age?
>>78949883
>What kind of mindset must one have to give up on life at such a tender age?
The 21st century mindset.
>>78949817
Maybe a little location change would do you some good, my dear friend I know it hasn't been long since you're back but maybe you're in the part of the country again that you've known all your life and it just is boring?
>>78949883
Your adult life begins at 20, if you don't have a degree and job by 24 it's basically over.
>>78949857
I disagree. I think they're quite similar.
>>78949936
You could be right. As you know, I was unhappy about leaving France.
>>78949945
Why aren't thousands of 25 year olds killing themselves en masse every year then?
>>78949817
The job market is healthier now and you have more experience. You should be better placed to find a position more suited to your interests.
>>78949945
That sounds more like your personal excuse for not even trying.
>>78949857
They make the same sort of posts though.
>>78950010
What makes you say so?
I'd say that Froggy represents very different views from AA
>>78950010
>>78950092
Do elaborate.
>>78950072
>You should be better placed to find a position more suited to your interests.
But that's the point I was originally making withmy first post this evening; I have no idea what my "interests" are.
>>78950107
I think someone is using advanced shitposting techniques by pretending to confuse two people who dislike each other with one another and thus agitating both of them simultaneously by implying they represent attributes they dislike but by doing so in a covert way which appears a genuine mistake rather than an overt insult.
>>78950187
That was my guess. I think anyone would be insulted at being called AA.
>>78950072
I have a job though. You haven't explained how I'm wrong?
>>78950136
How do you know you dislike the job specifically and don't just hate working in general if you can't imagine a type of job you'd enjoy?
>>78950187
>>78950136
Post about themselves or their lives pretty regularly looking for sympathy/attention and when they argue they're both pretty uncompromising.
>>78950187
Sounds like something a shitposter would say to shitpost further
>>78950280
hmm, maybe they are actually girls after all
>>78950226
That is a very good question and I wish I had an answer for it. Not knowing what I'm interested in doing professionally has left me in a situation where I can't envision myself in a situation where I would enjoy employment. I'm not a lazy person though, so I don't think it stems from an unwillingness to work anyway.
>>78950280
AA is unabashed in his desire for attention. Frogweeb just seems to like discussing specific aspects of his life. Froggy's misery posting as nowhere near as common as it used to be either.
>>78950449
t. frogweeb
>>78950280
>when they argue they're both pretty uncompromising
So are most people in this general these days unfortunately, its deterred me from making political posts anymore since I wind up either getting insulted for them or aggressively challenged on my opinion for not conforming to theirs.
>>78950378
Do you desire a more active job or would you still like to do a desktop job?
>>78950302
Meta analysing my own shitposting as a decoy is a skill I'm yet to master.
>>78950558
>>78950558
>So are most people in this general these days unfortunately
Do you think you're the only voice of reason?
>>78950802
Not at all, it's not about viewpoints but the manner of discussion and debate.
>>78950963
Oh yeah? I'll fight you out the back of the church for that viewpoint.
>>78951103
