There was someone who took the normal one and converted it straight to traditional but it might be hard to find. You could probably do it yourself with a script (it might have some mistakes but the deck already has some mistakes so no big deal).

When you're doing spoonfed I recommend doing it as a listening deck, so the hanzi really don't matter that much.

There's no reason not to learn both. Both are pretty easy if you know Japanese and after you learn one enough to comfortably read drama subtitles it's pretty trivial to pick up the other.

Agreed, most ppl that only learned simplified usually have no trouble reading traditional by high school or college. Many of the words only have their radicals simplified, so if you remember one you will remember them all. Japanese actually uses half simplified half traditional, countries took inspiration from one another when they went through the same process.

I doubt the money is only from working the day job, especially not for an art teacher unless if she works for 中央美院 or something. I lived in Beijing for 15 years before moving to the US, 15 years ago. At least back in the day and every time I go back most of the people that become really well off are the ones with their own small businesses on the grey market. Not drugs or anything, mostly contractor type of stuff doing the same as their day job. My old high school chemistry teacher use to make most of her money through tutoring. It was 100~200 RMB / hour / student, and often people tutor up to 4 students at the same time. That's roughly $100 per hour, 15 years ago, in China. Of course her being a decent teacher working for 区重点 district tier famous high school is part of the equation, but the actual pay from the school was less than half of her total income.

Another example is my old classmate who was a reporter for BTV. She said the camera crew would go do wedding shoots when off work, that is huge bucks anywhere in the world. They have access to drones and all other TV station equipment. She dabbed into doing some sort of bilibili/ youku online channel thing as well, not sure if that worked. There are channels that struck gold while doing it, it's basically like the promotion period of youtube when anyone remotely competent was banking 50k~100k/ year by uploading regularly. She also sells doll clothes on the side, either for SD doll or some other similar Japanese doll model. I'm sure that money goes right back in buying more doll stuff which is notoriously expensive.
