I did, actually, which surprises me thinking about how uncomfortable I still am around foreigners. I grew up in an poorer outer suburb of Brisbane and had classmates that were Malaysian Chinese, Filipino, Italian, ex-Yugo and Tongan

It became one while I grew up. Didin't really notice it until I was 16-18 or something. What a terrible nightmare not to wake up from.

2.) I live in New Brunswick which is 95.7% white, almost all French, Irish, and Anglo and 2.5% First Nations/Métis. So no, quite the opposite of a multiracial enviroment.
