No it was mostly due to the christian crusade fanaticism since germans converted people in the baltics. Also Sweden was a small shitstain of a kingdom who wasn't nearly as prestigious as Denmark or Norway at the time so they decided to take the only place in Europe no one wanted to take.
Also the first 2 crusades are just myths. There's no credible archeological evidence to prove their existence in anything else than few swedish bishop writings.
