Yeah, if you're a local you kinda get bored/complacent with le clear water beaches, le hot sun and le pink & white sand. It's not that cool. Maybe cool for tourist that never seen or experience stuff like that before, but most people here try to stay indoors.

We still have to work and pay bills. Not everyone here is dude weed lmao and drinking rum on the beach 24/7.

"Caribbean people" represent a very diverse group, it doesn't make sense to have an opinion on all of them.
Puerto Ricans are the country with the second most European ancestry (Cuba is first) in the Caribbean, but we also have taino and african ancestry, speak Spanish and English and are very Americanized. Cubans, despite being very similar to us in many ways, have an entirely different lifestyle under communism, much less American influence, and literally banned reggaetton, so very different culturally. Haiti has mostly African ancestry, with little European ancestry and next to no indigenous ancestry, unlike their neighbor Rep. Dom.
Jamaica has mainly African ancestry and speaks English, not Spanish, so again very different culture
and this is just the Greater Antilles
