Should I learn French, Spanish, or Portuguese?

Learn Arabic, all those languages are useless.

Spanish, then Portuguese, then Catalan if you feel like it.

Spanish: Emerging lingua franca. Very useful to know as a US citizen. Lot of cultural relevance (tv, music, literature, etc...)
Portuguese: Pursue as a hobby
French: Lots of people will be speaking this language especially in Africa in mena in 2050

Then you might want to pick up some of your native languages. They all are unusual to any Indo-European language speaker and most have very interesting grammar too. My favourite ones are Nahuatl, Ojibwe and Inuktitut but they're spoken outside your country. I don't know any of them though, I just like how they sound. There's also this little guy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zuni_language which according to a conspiracy theory is an ancient relative to Japanese.
Just pick up any at random and I'm sure you'll get something interesting.

I live in West Virginia. Pic related are our demographics. I would imagine if you take into account the small minority of people who speak something other than English in their homes, then yes Spanish is technically the most useful second language. However, the likelihood of actually encountering a native Spanish speaker is very low for me.

Depends where you want to spend most of your time.
USA, Latin America, or Spain - Spanish
Brazil or Portugal - Portugeuse
Rest of Europe, Canada, or Equatorial Africa - French
For anywhere east of that - All are useless.

I've learned both French and Spanish. I find Spanish more useful for talking to people, while French is more useful for reading and writing.
