Personally I prefer the Cuban accent even though I know we sound like idiots. But objectively, I think the best accent is Ecuadorian. Very clear, very easy to understand.

Accents are not a problem, dialect is.

Puerto Rico is the only bad Spanish accent and that's because it's fucked up by spanglish.
>>
>>78736401
Unironically this. Throwing in my two cents here and hope no one gets too offended but to Mexicans the difference in between a Mexican accent and all others is a bit like hearing Dr. House the character and Hugh Laurie the actor speak, much like with the Americans and other English accents everyone else sounds vaguley effeminate to us. Northern Mexico is somewhat the equivalent to southern accent, and Mexico City sounds tough/fast like New York, tho it also gets fresa, our equivalent to valley girl. Southern Mexico and particularly Yucatec sounds a lot like the exaggerated Midwestern in Fargo and to some extent this carries over to Central America in our ears, which are something like Canadian.

Going with this analogy, Spain's is a lot like British, itself composed of many different accents (Irish, Scottish) and sounding to us as somewhat archaic. Madrileño I'd argue is a bit like cockney and can be very attractive depending on your affinities.

Caribbean does sound a lot like the ay papi latinas in American media, think Puerto Rican characters in movies, I actually do like it very much, some hate it here. Colombian would be something like Australian, it can be near incomprehensible to us when spoken fast and with a lot of slang.

Argentine sounds like an arrogant French accent sounds in English to us, think the Merovingian in the Matrix, except pbviously it leans towards Italian.

Ofc not every Mexican will agree but this is IMHO how the comparison works out.

the only real answer and every neutral will reach it if they hear all accens is that Rioplatense is the objectively superior one
>>
>>78737306
so how did you acquire that sh sound? i thought j in llamo etc became sh just like in portuguese chamo. so is it just a coincidence??
>>
>>78737310
Something like Apalachian, not as soft tho, more aggressive. It's got a lot of the Norteño drawing of some syllables. It's obviously not meant to be a perfect comparison.
>>
>>78736200
What's that accent they speak in Narcos? Especially Pablo's character
>>
>>78736401
Americans have one of the worst accents when they try to speak our language. It's like your mouth is full of something and you can't open it properly.
>>
I think Chile has the worst accent.

>>78737399
>What's that accent they speak in Narcos? Especially Pablo's character
There is no single accent in Narcos. Pablo isn't even hispanic, the actor a Brazilian trying to speak Spanish. Do you have a specific character's accent in mind? Pedro Pascal, who plays Javier Pena in Narcos, is actually born and raised in the USA, his accent is 100% fake.

I can't find any source for where the merge of ll, y and sh came to be, so I can't really claim it is or isn't.
However, it's a fact that there hasn't been lots of portuguese influence on the region. Mostly because neither they study spanish nor do we study portuguese, we can kinda understand each other as it is
>>

that would also be the caribbean one, we talk very slow, also there is no "colombian accent", we have many and VERY different accents

Why do American posters get baited this easily?

Hearing a supposdely chilean character speaking like some caribbean guy it's jarring.

Yeah, but most of our modern accent is fairly recent, most researchers saying that it changed to become what it is today from mid 1800 to early 20th century.

>>
>>78736200
I wondered if people in 1900 thought the USA was going to be an Italian country
>>
>>78737744

it isnt an issue of it being difficult or not. All Argentines can pronounce the Y as in Yes or the Spanish Z (which sounds like TH in Thunder)
But it isnt natural to pronounce it for us, you would have to make a mental effort of thinking before talking, the moment you stop thinking, and start talking normally, you would do it the way you have always done.

for example, if you tell yourself, from now on I will pronounce C in front of a vowel as TS, you will make mistakes when you stop thinking of doing that, because it isnt natural to you.

If someone moves for years then for sure they will pick up the new accent.

their politically correct LGBT govt spent like 20million to add trilingual road signs throughout canada. it is very import to translate the STOP sign to both French and Innuit. BTW the french in France don't translate STOP. Apparently they understand what that means. Do you translate STOP in spanish to PARE or ALTO or just use STOP?
