How much of a waste of time would it be to learn Quenya and/or Sindarin?
It would be more useful than learning esperanto

As much as I like Esperanto, I have to admit that it's pretty useless.

Conlangs are a waste of time. Though Tolkien's at least have influences from great arcane languages like Old Norse, Old English, and Älvdalsk
at least there is some literature written in esperanto

Duolingo is releasing Klingon in September

Qapla'!
When will Blizzard release their own conlangs from WoW?

there was a guy who literally tried to make his newborn baby a native klingon speaker (like there exist some native esperanto speakers, a language becomes your native if you learn it very early) but the baby liked english more because klingon didn't have words for diaper etc
I think Tolkien did write an extensive grammar for Quenya including a Thesaurus, but I'm not sure there's a thesaurus for Sindarin
Anyway the wiriting shouldn't be too difficult considering there are no variants or many exceptions since it's a made-up language -so at the end of the day it could be a massive waste of time, but it couldn't be too massive anyway because you won't have a fluency bar to achieve since there are no books in Elvish for you to read. You might be able to find some Tolkienite crazy enough to know and be willing to practice though, I know there are some here.
Also Quenya's synthaxis? It's *literally* Italian famalam
