China has a long way to go before it gets close to matching the US in social progression, economic parity, and military capability. People go on and on about how fast China has risen, but forget that a huge portion of their population is still considered to live below the poverty line. Their eduction system is a mess in any rural area, which holds a significant portion of their population. The US still has the top unis in the world, and with the funding their getting, I don't see MIT Harvard or Chicago getting passed by Chinese universities anytimes soon.

Their government is still intensely authoritarian, citizens lack the rights commonly afforded by western countries. Their military, while large, lacks the training and capability maintained by western nations.

China still loses a significant amount of its most talent STEM specialists to the US.
