The non-meme answer is that Mexican geography is completely different. The US is dominated by wide, flat plains with a few, easily crossed mountains scattered in. Mexico is dominated by some of these same mountains, but steeper and much more difficult to pass.

Whereas Americans tend to invent borders where there probably shouldn't be any, Mexicans tend to be stuck with some pretty unavoidable geographic boundaries.
>>
>>78581608
There would be little benefit to Mexico and Canada. They would be completely sidelined politically by the US even more so than they already are

THIS Also we don't share many core values, we are far too liberal for even Democrats and we don't want that the clusterfuck that's American foreign policy, I for one I'm happy living in a pacifist neutral country.

And really do either Canada or Mexico have any need to take on the 20 trillion USD debt of american taxpayers? No, gracias, I'd rather we keep our universal healthcare rather than having to deal with dumb fuck Republicans arguing for tax cuts for the rich, even our corrupt politicians can run a country better when it comes to finance.

The Supreme court made gay marriage legal a few months ago, it's all just waiting for hick states to change their local laws or force the hand of the Federal government, same thing with medical marijuana. These are supreme court judges appointed by our right wing party btw.

>>78591092
Free public college, universal healthcare, you bet our politicians make Dems look like fucking fascists. And these are corrupt thieves doing the bare minimum to stay in power, not idealists trying to improve our country. Mexico is overall a socialist country, that is what the Mexican revolution was all about, and a lot of devout Catholics don't have a problem with that because our politicians are forbidden to talk about God the same way our priests can't talk politics. It's called separation of church and state and it cost us a couple of civil wars to achieve.

The supreme court ruling actually addresses recreational use.
https://www.forbes.com.mx/scjn-avala-uso-ludico-de-la-mariguana/
As for gay marriage I recently read something about states enacting the law being pursued, it's not an issue I follow closely so that's the few months ago part.
>>
>>78591535
I wouldn't consider Mexico a "socialist" country (that's Cuba and Venezuela), it's more like a weird mix of feudalism and crony capitalism, although it was fairly socialistic for a good deal of the 20th century.
>>
>>78591834
We'd share. We like Mexico here.
>>
>>78591889
Fair enough, there's a good argument to be made for the de facto workings of the country.

Having said that we still have an unapolegetically Marxist labor law and union system, an equivalent to agricultural soviets and clear policies towards a Keynesian welfare state. Mexico's de jure system would be considered socialist in the USA.

>>
>>78591889
Call it however you like, but:

- Free college
- Universal healthcare
- Subsidised public transport system
- State owned oil industry (not anymore, tho, but it's very recent)
- Organized workers unions

Sound pretty socialist to me. You know, socialism is a very broad term, and it doesn't only includes Marxism, Leninism, and in the case of Latin America, Laclauism ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernesto_Laclau ), but it also includes Social Democracy like in a lot of parts of Europe.

And no, it is not necessarily in a perpetual fight with Capitalism, as mixed economies exist.
>>
>>78591994
>but it also includes Social Democracy like in a lot of parts of Europe

European cunts like Sweden were far more socialistic in the 1960s, they used to have full employment as part of government policy and some creepily Orwellian practices like forced sterilization. Britain had nationalized industry from the 1940s until the 80s. The 80s was the era that saw a global move away from planned economies.

The other things are just social safety nets all industrialized cunts have and shouldn't be counted as socialistic, especially as the dictionary definition of "socialism" is "public ownership of the means of production". That would include Britain's nationalized industry in the mid-20th century.

the non meme answer is that usa is a big suburb of lotified squares. while mexico has more history in its borders thats all
>>
>>78592066

>>
>>78591963
Seriously man, please don't tell me you're an ITAM business major. Here you go, just going through article 2 should be enough without going on detail in regards to achieving social justice through balancing of capital and labor using unions to designate the bodies that make rulings.

This one was always a bit of a lark because there were sure as hell no workers rights in communist cunts. Union organizers in the Soviet Union were put in mental institutions and told "The USSR is the workers' paradise. Clearly you must be insane to demand workers' rights like this.
>>
>>78592066
You're correct but the American does have a legit point.

>>78592074
Come on man, don't treat him like that.
>>
>>78592113
The neo-left of today I think realizes this, you sure never hear them talk about labor or workers' rights today, only fake injustices like a bakery refusing to make a gay wedding cake.
>>
>>78592131
Why do you write man on every sentence?
>>
>>78592145
They ran out of real societal injustices to fight for a long time ago and had to resort to made up ones to stay in business.
>>
>>78592113
Socialism does not equal communism, the USSR, Cuba, etc. This is not to say they weren't socialist, they were (and it was fucking cancer), but that is not the only socialist ideology.

But meh, I already told you

>- Free college
>- Universal healthcare
>- Subsidised public transport system
>- State owned oil industry (not anymore, tho, but it's very recent)
>- Organized workers unions
>mixed economies exist

Call it however you like
>>
>>78592113
Nah amn, it works like a sort of racket here, if you employ more than 3 people in any industry then any of a number of unions can sue you for exclussive rights to your the collective contract for your business. It can cost you millions easy so what most people do is they hire a sort of mafia union that allows them to operate for a fee.

Add to that the law favors workers so strongly employers are almost guaranteed to always lose, and they have to pay wages for as long as the trial stalls (which can be a good half a decade) so again, this is solved through paying union mafias to screw the workers.

Add to that instead of judges we've got juntas composed of three representatives, one from the government, one from worker's unions and one from business chambers, the last two effectively do nothing but draw a lot of paychecks.

It's a near perfect communist system tbqh, it could work wonderful in theory but it's a nightmare in practice. It also adds quite a bit to the cost of labor in Mexico while hurting both workers and employers.

You know all that shit can an is being activly avoided by subcontratos right?
more than half of the people I know of my age, work from 10 to 12 hours a day, don't get paid extra hours and don't get compensation of any kind. They have to pay for their own insurance and now such thing as a descent pension is pure fantasy.
I'm happy that your family are CFE or PEMEX employees but seriously even the cleaning lady working in such places have better benefits than the average engineer

Anyway, I know it's little comfort but your being exploited is illegal, I've been there this isn't gloating, by all means sue the motherfuckers.if you're ever in a position you can afford to lose the job or have something better lined up. Do collect your severance first, those documents you sign to release them from responsibility are also illegal.
>>
>>78592303
as I told you, subcontratos.
The moment you sue the moment the civil society files bankruptcy and changes name, heck even the contracts give paper addresses like some random warehouse in Puebla or State of Mexico.
