I think in these battles context is a huge thing to talk about, as misfortune is typically the leading reason of defeat.

For example, take the Battle of Agincourt. The weather was the reason we won that war. We were lucky enough to find ourselves in a stranglehold; typically that would be unfortunate as we could have been easily discarded by a well-placed calvary charge, but due to last nights' rain the mud had become all boggy, which made that impossible.
