Will Americans panic when sun suddenly goes away?
A good chunk of their nut job populace will be screaming about Jesus and the end times, no doubt.

Don't need special glasses to view a total eclipse. Partial is a yes.

My experience is if you want to look at the sun directly watch it on tv. The really enjoyable part of the experience to me is to look at the general environment, that's the eclipse plus sky/landscape, it's what looks surreal and awe inspiring really. And that you can get away doing with normal sunglasses as long as you aren't staring directly at the sun, in terms of intensity it isn't any different than a regular day, it's just the danger is you may stare directly at the sun being fooled into a false sense of security by the darkness. If there's clouds or dust in the air it may actually be worth it to scan the horizon with bare eyes to see the colors, again this isn't different than any regular day, tho this is obviously at your own risk.
If you don't have the willpower not to stare at the sun directly then yes, by all means wear special glasses or do any of the indirect observation methods, IMHO it isn't worth it in an age of widely spread high def images but it sure beats hurting your vision.

You have to be in the path of totality to not use glasses and only while it's happening. Not before, not after.
I'm not in the path of totality so I have to use glasses where I live or take a glance only.

Yes especially the faggot midwesterners and freaks in the northwest. Seriously these people are insane. The yankees in the northeast are too ignorant to notice the difference anyway.
