It's not even close to the most relevant state in any way. Not culturally, not politically, not economically, none of it.

The cultural capital of the U.S. really depends on what type of culture you're looking for, really there's about 5 states that could hole a claim to this title, such as New York, Georgia, Virginia, Texas, Cali.

Politically it's relatively irrelevant, it has a decent military base, but other than that there's nothing of importance in the state.

While it might be the most economically succseful state it's still poor compared to the U.S. overall, and several states come close to it's GDP, and New York City is actually the richest city in the nation.
