Wish I still had a solar filter for the telescope.
They are so much cooler with a telescope.

I accidentally took the solar filter I had off the eyepiece to do some terrestrial viewing before moving the telescope away from the sun once and there was instant smoke coming out of the eyepiece.

Yes.
In the direct path it's dangerous too because if you look slightly too soon or too long the sun's rays come suddenly blasting into your retina.
If it damages your eyes you usually don't realize until the next day.

An eclipse is so fucking boring, there's really nothing to see. It happens very fucking day, at least you get different colors at dusk and dawn because of the atmosphere at the horiozn.
