Can I trust eclipse glasses? I hear some of them are approved by NASA but I'd rather not go blind
>>
>>78504579
they are dark as hell
I can't see anything except the sun if i have them on
>>
Huh? Sorry can't hear you over my 24/7 sunlight.

I already saw a total solar eclipse in 1999, my dude.

Only 90's yuropoor kids remember that.
>>
>>78504370
Could be but nobody really knows
>>
>>78504677
I hope that's a good thing. I'd be worried if they offered as much light as 3d glasses.
>>
>>78504579
there's a ton of fake glasses going around, apparently.

You wont really need them if you're under the path of totality, just make sure to look away once the sun starts peeking through the moon's mountains
>>
>>78504783
How was it Alfo?
>>
>>78504829

>>
>>78504829
I heard this as well. Unfortunately I'm too south of the totality. Another thing is I don't know how to tell fake and real ones apart. There's a 7 eleven near my house that is selling some but I don't know if I should go for it.
>>
>>78504881
Do you not realize what a solar eclipse is?

Wish I still had a solar filter for the telescope.
They are so much cooler with a telescope.

I accidentally took the solar filter I had off the eyepiece to do some terrestrial viewing before moving the telescope away from the sun once and there was instant smoke coming out of the eyepiece.
>>
>>78504953
the sun will be eclipsed by the earth. we won't be able to see it for 2 mins.

It was alright, I was a dumb 9 year old kid so I didn't fully appreciate it. It's over pretty fast so make sure you're paying attention.

Kinda wish I could go back. I was just happy playing with sticks and climbing trees, I didn't need any happenings and astronomical events to be happy.

>even the moon in America is so fat it blocks the sun
>>
>>78505259
Yes.
In the direct path it's dangerous too because if you look slightly too soon or too long the sun's rays come suddenly blasting into your retina.
If it damages your eyes you usually don't realize until the next day.
>>
>>78505444
probably too late. you could get them for free at your local library.

I know what will cheer you up senpai. Grab some cans of Pringles and have some fun watching the sun get blacked.
>>
>>78505444
there's probably some places where you could get them for free. Unis, libraries etc.

for me I'm going to the science centre, they offer on a first come first serve basis though

People are selling fakes.

Only buy your solar glasses from a trusted institute. Look for a university, science center or observatory that is giving them out.

An eclipse is so fucking boring, there's really nothing to see. It happens very fucking day, at least you get different colors at dusk and dawn because of the atmosphere at the horiozn.
