All parents, grandparents, and most great-grandparents were born in the USA. So "American". All grandparents, siblings and older are gone, so my parent's generation is the oldest surviving one in the family.

Northwestern European stock all around. Norwegian, Swedish, some Irish on both sides (at least one great-grandparent came over from Ireland IIRC), and I have a vague idea of some Welsh/French but that's very tenuous. As a lucky mutt, I have never really identified with any particular old country/ethnic group (except some faint strains of Muh Norwegian Heritage on mom's side), apart from "White American". Several blue-eyed people in the family. I can't think of a single person anywhere in my extended family who ever married, reproduced or even dated a nonwhite. The Irish connection notwithstanding, we are about as white as humans get.

I am suppose to be able to trace myself to a signer of the Declaration. I can track up up from my side and down from his to a certain point, but I've never been able to close this loop. Family lore holds that a great-grandparent was the first white child to be born in a county in the rural midwest.
