Why do Americans on /int/ try to justify the 0 to 100 degrees

Why do Americans on /int/ try to justify the 0 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit scale? Isn't a useful 0 to 100 scale the exact metric nonsense that should be avoided by muh glorious imperial units of freedom?

it's good for room temperature stuff because there is a larger degree

70-80 as opposed to 21-26
