I've played two on the DS which had much better AI and deck originality as opposed to DUDE MIRROR FORCE/RAIGEKI/MAGIC CYLINDER LMAO everyone had on the GBA. And it was also nice to use touch screen controls. The problems were

GX had a trajectory similar to the first series, in that the first season was gimicky and unsure in how to proceed, but the later seasons were good, and I'd say better in terms of story cohesion than the first run.
I stopped watching midway through GX, but I heard that they didn't translate one season in the middle of the run so it ended up not making much sense or being easy to follow, and on top of that the final season was supposedly very dark. (I might be misremembering this, I'm not an anime expert).

I can't remember any of the names off the top of my head because it has been a few years now. There are a few other good ones out there though about the genocide; one of which is really long and starts with Belgian occupation and works it's way slowly up to the genocide.
