>Is Limerick what midlanders regard as cool?
A lot of counties have border counties that revolve around them for college and work. We talk about Dublin's border counties being drawn into it's a nationwide issue. Clare is unique since it borders both Galway and Limerick and therefore has the choice for two universities to go to. People in Mayo meanwhile would just have Galway.

Does it really matter if it's 300 or 310? As we've found out not everybody was aware Hiro even changed it a couple of years ago.
Our editions are usually just an image from someones posting rotation accompanied by a single word describing that image. I don't know why people get so worked up about creating their own, it's not like anyone ever actually discusses the OP.

Because they're considerably far off the ideal number of 310? I don't think there's anything wrong with a grace period of 10 posts or so considering it takes time to create a new thread and nobody can predict how long it will take to reach the bump limit.
Given his new thread was at 303 and judging from the speed of the last 7 posts then you're drawing objection over the difference of something being posted 6 minutes too early. Does it really matter?

It's bad manners and doesn't give a chance for anyone else to make the thread when someone else makes the same one again suddenly. The only time a new thread should be made before bump limit is if it's only a few posts away and discussion has completely dropped dead so there's no point in starting a new discussion or if image limit was reached.

Also it's a bit rude for the same person to make the edition twice in a row, give someone else a chance.

That's the joke. If it was merely funny and insufficiently funny, or the humour had worn off, it would be a forced attempt at humour. By not being funny its use outside of context can be made funny, especially when people get riled up by it. HEEM is the greatest example of this.

Interesting to see where their instincts went. The morale bonus from the charge wasn't enough to break their morale.

I have heard rumblings that the driver actually panicked because his car was being attacked and he was closed off in the narrow streets. Plausible enough potentiality, but if that were true, I expect the current narrative will be upheld for the sake of politics, unless leaked video evidence made it untenable.

If I'm remembering it correctly, it's too sweet and tangy. Most generic "curry" is more like korma sauce, a flavour richer than it is sweet.

>>78357006
Depends where you get them from. A lot of generic joints think off-brand squeezy bottle taco sauce (mayonnaise out in the sun) plus cheese plus watery, excessively sweet mince is a "taco".
Supermacs gets it right in terms of the flavour of both the orangey-white taco sauce and the spices within the mince meat, but they also get the crucial balance right in treating the meat as part of the meal itself, rather than an ancillary to the chips. I've had taco fries from some places where there was more cheap cheddar put over it than taco mince. Mizzoni's taco fries are the worst of the lot in my opinion, which is a shame because their chips are passable, if dry.

No I think you'll find having a job, having a partner, having sex, paying bills, having kids, having friends and living life in the outside world tends to stop these kinds of thoughts. There is actually a world outside of what you "think" and you shouldn't spend all day thinking about stuff like autistically lashing out at a defenseless animal. This kind of depression and idleminded rambling you confuse as philosophical discourse is not healthy for you and you see the help that is very readily available for you instead of revelling in your madness. It can be actually quite nice to spend some days not being angry and bitter at the world.

Maybe no harm if it tackles the gap between ordinary and honours in some cases. This is a grand dad meme. If you have more space to not be 100% black and white in your writing and answering, than yes they're easier. You can write a biology definition that is basically a different way of saying the original definition, instead of learning off lines. It's better since when you write things your own way, it show you understand it, instead of rehearsing. Also I hate to admit it but kids are smarter than our generation. They take studying seriously more than we do, they don't drink/drug/smoke at all really, none of them are souping up shitty cars like we did, teen pregnancy is lower and social media has made them vein so they are serious gym rats and fitness freaks. Kids are boringly responsible. Probably cause growing up with social media has made them obnoxiously positive, pro active and tolerant and obviously they saw older people like me fuck up

>>78374704
>they don't drink/drug/smoke at all really
I'm 2 years into college so I'm part of the generation you're talking about as opposed to yours. From what I can see, they do drink, smoke and take drugs as much as any previous generation. Difference is, they're able to manage things better so they can still get good grades while also maintaining the social life of taking drugs and drinking. The dichotomy of going out often and having shit grades or having good grades and being a loser doesn't exist anymore. You could say social media is responsible for this as more people are under pressure to have a social life to broadcast

>none of them are souping up shitty cars
These still exist, there are just less of them and yeah, they're not exactly getting Level 8 degrees. You have a point there
>>
>>78374704
>They take studying seriously more than we do
In hindsight I wonder if we were very influenced by 90s American sitcoms and comedies in terms of attitudes towards school and education. Everyone wanted to be the sort of Zack Morris, Bart Simpson, Sabrina, Will Smith sort of delinquent who cared more about having fun and making friends than getting good grades. Most of the smartest characters in those shows were usually dismissed as boring and unpopular geeks who nobody wanted to be. Malcolm in the middle was one of the few shows I can remember where the smart kid was actually shown to be someone desirable.
I think the representation of "nerds" and "troublemakers" has changed a lot in media since then, nowadays you actually have non-nerds claiming they are nerds.

>Then ordinary Irish should be made harder. People have been learning Irish since age 4, they shouldn't be writing primary school tier stuff aged 17 unless they're in foundation.
Irish as a mandatory subject is on borrowed time though, it being very easy at ordinary level keeps the pressure off its very presence coming under the microscope.
In reality it should be more challenging, I think the ordinary level French and German papers are both more difficult than it despite students only learning it for 5 years as opposed to 13 but it should also be optional.
Forcing it and increasing the difficulty while it's taught very poorly, continues to be understaffed with teachers willing to teach it and 20%+ of the student base being granted an exemption for it would lead to absolute chaos.
>>
>>78375258
Malcolm was the main character and was shown to be relatable and not just a smart kid to poke fun at, is what I mean. I think all those 90's sitcom characters were written as under achievers and proud because that was the play ground mentality at the time or at least when the boomer writers of the show was when they were kids. Only a few lost cause autists are seriously influenced on how a negative roll model fictional character live their life. And was Malcolm ever desirable? He was a moany paranoid obessive SMART THAN THOUGH awkward little fuck. I did think Reese and Lois were cunts as a kid but now I see Lois was doing a bitch because she was the mother of 4 bastard children who she loved and poor Reese honestly didn't know any better but he did know he was stupid and doomed to mediocrity but tried to make the most of it. I remember liking Francis as a kid cause I taught he was a cool older brother but he's the biggest loser out of all them
>>78375338
Teachers have this chastising attitude that turns so many people off Irish in their teen years and then they wish they learned it more when they are in their 20's and realise that the Irish language is not all old peotry and homework you'll get a bollocking at for not having the vocabulary of a 35 year old at 15. I should watch it again sometime to see if my perception has changed on them, I remember really not liking dewey as well for being a bit to random and nonsensical.

Dewey's character is brilliant. He starts off as just the cute kid but then as he gets older he becomes smarter than Malcolm, but because he's been the youngest for so long, people still think of him as the kid. Malcolm did have a lot of opposition but he never dealt with it the right way, always sperged out or over re acted and in the end, came out worse as who ever was fucking him over. He's a well written character but I'd hate him if he was a real person
I gave GOT a chance years ago and was actually hyped to see it but ya, the over hype made me just notice all the flaws with it and I've heard even some fans aren't happy with the show when ever they stopped following the books. I don't think a show like GoT should go on for more than 2 seasons. What made it intense was we were introduced to a vast cast in the beginning and any of them could die at any moment. Now it's all who's walk on screen, get 2 episodes, OPPS! They're dead now, que the violin music and the tears

>I don't think a show like GoT should go on for more than 2 seasons.
I think the opposite, the book series already has 4.5k pages so there's a huge amount of material to get through. The first 4 seasons had the right idea and went through the material at a steady pace but that pace has quickened since to the turbo speed it's at now which is very disappointing. I hate when media condenses something that is supposed to be enjoyed in great depth and detail, it was probably why I never enjoyed the Harry Potter movies when compared with the books.

Delighted I got a H7 in Irish. I mean it's 30-40 I could have done much better but fuck me I just couldn't wrap my fucking head around the language even after a stint in the gaeltacht. Thank fuck I won't have to touch that godforsaken language again, I mean sure great our national tongue whatever but fuck off it wasn't taught to me properly in primary school I'm not arsed with it now.
>>
>>78376577
I was aiming for mid 400s but sadly didnt get it, could get my papers rechecked but not sure if it's worth the effort. To be frank I really didn't put as much work in as I could have so I'm delighted with what I could compared to the amount of work I put in (not a lot) proving correlation doesn't always equal causation.

The next course I want I'm about 10-15 points off so not sure if I'll get it. Anyway I'm sure whatever I get I'll be happy in.

An 07 30-40 is still a fail so there's still plenty of F's.

Foundation math's lads. If you were handed a leaving cert maths paper now would you be able to do it?
Pretty sure no adult would. When you grow up you'll realise how useless s lot of the stuff you learnt is.
>>
>>78377292
Yeah I'm not really sure to be honest.

If I get it rechecked and I get the extra 15 points I need (presuming that the points stay the same) I'll end up in NUIG doing a pretty good 4 year course. If I stay where I am and not bother with rechecking then I'll definitely end up in a 3 year UCD course. So I'm not sure what to do, I live far away from both Galway and Dublin so I guess it's the choice of NUIG or UCD and I can't make up my mind.

>>78377312
If I was to do a PLC it would be a Business studies PLC or something like that that would get me into the course I really wanted. Then again, I dunno if I should do a PLC, I mean I'm 19 if I did a PLC I'd be 20 going into college so I haven't a clue if it's worth it.

I don't really know if the choice of topic in PLC course really matters in terms of "getting into" uni courses. I wouldn't say so, so long as it's not completely lesser in terms of seriousness.

Being a year or two older than the rest of the uni kids is no big deal. The only downside is if you wanted to go to the same uni as your friends, but you say you're far from your locale anyway, so that's not an issue.

Ah. They're probably from the privileged warlord clan class that causes the "refugee crises" in those regions, and their multinational ingratiating into the anti-national anti-European ruling group within Ireland is, consciously or not, supposed to blend them into the amorphously "brown" superset of "refugee". He went to a posh Dundrum private school with 250 students, it's fairly obvious what's going on there. Bitterly ironic.

In the end, though, my point about their best function, as the rich elite of Sudan/Saudi colonialism, being in their own country, is heightened by the fact that they did come from the elite there. It'd be one thing if this was a poverty-stricken genius fluke whose parents left the country they came from because the rulers there wouldn't let them stay, but this is making it fairly clear that the elite don't care who rules Ireland so long as they go to posh south Dublin private schools and do well in the leaving cert. Burn this country down, why not.

The ruling class-ideology in Ireland doesn't care about the "white Irish" (redundant), so long as the global rich can get richer through the use of every nation's resources.
As bad as the Dublin lower class are, and as much as the unchecked centralisation of the economy there is responsible for this, the fact that there's a "housing crisis" at all in Dublin is evidence of this phenomenon.

I think suggesting Leaving Cert and Universities rig their results to favour those from certain locations and backgrounds seems a bit far fetched.
Wealthy families already have a natural advantage in having access to better schools and probably get preferential treatment for admissions.
Besides, why would the favours not begin at employment level if rules were going to be bent for certain groups rather than earlier. If you're the D4 son of a bank manager or an RTE personality I don't think it's going to matter what points you got in the leaving cert.

That's what I was saying. By contrast those children and families that rely on non-selective governmental schools' efficiency have a huge disadvantage.

Don't know what you mean by this sentence exactly, but in terms of "bending the rules" I'm not accusing the LC system of doing any of that, I'm saying the way they draw up the rules, their goals, their funding, their aims, everything, is done with specific awareness to NOT produce results unwanted by previously established power.

More than likely, the people in positions of power create the structures to benefit people like themselves, this is why unknown board appointments being pulled out of thin air by politicians is so concerning.

>I think suggesting Leaving Cert and Universities rig their results to favour those from certain locations and backgrounds seems a bit far fetched.
That's because it is. Universities don't give special treatment to people unless they're a Muslim or some other foreigner. If you are black or brown then you get your place in college with half the points thanks to the HEAR scheme, they roll the red carpet out for your arrival, set you up with nice campus accommodation and give you every grant under the sun. Meanwhile white Irish students are struggling to find accommodation due to the rent crisis and if they do, they're struggling financially because they can't land a traditional student part-time job (shop assistant, etc.) because Eastern Europeans and Asians are working them

But grading is exactly the same for everybody, it might be easier for foreigners to gain admission but they have to be as good as anyone else to graduate.
It's similar in the US, the standard for us to enter a US college is a lot lower than a US citizen.

I'll resign to the fate of the local weebs here and just not go outside, that'll show them.

After 4 years here I'd say somewhere like Ballyfermot is worse. Haven't personally been involved in any incidents and only heard of a couple that involved people not part of a gang.

Life's a load of bollock lads. Might go for some courses or do uni/college next summer.

Until then and maybe even after that my life is going to be a utter bleak shitfest.
