I'm Somali, I grew up with an irrational fear of pork, and even after I had been an Atheist for a few years I was afraid of it. Moved out 6 months ago, and I don't really see the massive difference between pork and beef. When the meats are processed, you can't even really tell the difference.

Unprocessed beef and pork have a different grain and colour of course, but once you grind that shit down and make it into patties, or tubes, or whatever else, they become indistinguishable. The all beef hotdog and the pork hotdog are so minutely different.

I think anyone who enjoys beef and refuses pork is being irrational. In the 21st century at least. Dietary restriction on pork developed because it didn't keep well so it wasn't a good idea to waste resources raising pigs and eating their fast-rotting flesh before preservatives or refrigeration. In old Scottish Celtic culture pork was prohibited for the same reason.
