As he attempted to climb its walls, money fell from his pockets, attracting local knackers to his exercise in delirium. It's "brách" in modern Irish. Americans tend to say "errin" instead of "ayren" and "brah" instead of "braugh".
It's a good sentiment though.

What confuses me more is "Fág an Bealach", spelled "Faugh a Ballagh" in Anglicisation. It was used on both sides of the Atlantic, so it's not just made up, but "fág" is an odd verb choice in my opinion, at least in terms of the supposedly direct translation to "clear the way".
I'd say that most people would take "clear the way" as an instruction to your comrades to push the enemy out of their position, but if you'd tell someone in Irish to "fág" anything, it's more like an instruction for people who are doing something to "leave" what they're doing and get out of the way. So is the Irish saying directed at the enemy, telling them to get out of your way?

Almost certainly. The left can't distinguish and won't distinguish between speech opposing them and violence. Saw a good tweet about how once you declare violence okay to shut down other people's speech, killing them is the inevitable logical conclusion.
The loons with Nazi flags are less of a violent factor IMO than the institutional left-con elite desu, and the diversity of grievance cultures they've fostered.

I think even if he told the KKK to fuck off they'd still vote for him. It's not like any other politician would ever publicly condone them and he still suits their interests more than the democrats or other major republicans.
>>
>>78267284
>He obviously leans in that direction and doesn't want to lose votes from those groupings.
Yep, though it's still quite a sight to witness an American president refusing to speak out against such groups, traditionally association with such "deplorables" was considered political suicide. It will no doubt continue to embolden such groups, they're not used to being openly validated by powerful and influential voices.
>>
>>78267393
Trump not taking sides was a clever move in my opinion. The Left is so used to having the backing of the establishment in recent years that when something they don't like happens they just turn, with tears in their eyes to the government and cry "Do something! We're right, they're wrong!". They've become entitled and their self-righteousness knows no bounds. The President should be above taking sides in quarrels between extremists "on many sides".

Possibly but then you might have political commentators that may support them turn somewhat against him or become more critical of his presidency. I'm sure he already has enough enemies that he doesn't want more.

>>78267528
>traditionally association with such "deplorables" was considered political suicide

From a certain point of view. It takes more of a leap of logic to paint only the alt-right as condoning this, than to paint Islam as condoning it.

Pretty sure Muslims in Europe are hated because they're predominately North Africa, Indonesian, Middle Eastern and Pakistani - i.e ethnicities not native to Europe. The terrorism question is secondary

They were uncoordinated but tenacious scrappers against Tipp, if anything it was Tipp that choked.
If Galway lose, it will probably be apparent that they will within the first fifteen minutes, unless the opposing side pull out all the stops in the second half.

Tipp were outplayed, simple as that. But as one of the pundits said afterwards, Michael Ryan has nothing to be ashamed of. Galway never allowed Tipperary to engage in the stylish Hurling they are known for. Instead it was a tooth and nail brawl in which Galway always seemed to have a very slight edge. Great game though.
>>
>>78270547
>Galway never allowed Tipperary to engage in the stylish Hurling they are known for.
Exactly. That's what I was trying to say for.
Pure attrition. Galway blocked the long passes and gave Tipperary players in their half no room to breathe.

I don't think that makes for stellar viewing though.
>>
>>78270795
I thought it was a fantastic game. Sure, it wasn't stylish nor a classic, but it was incredibly competitive and each player was giving it 110%. Incredibly physical without being dirty.

>incredibly competitive
Every time Tipp got a score past Galway through élan and initiative, Galway would come out of their dense defence and snipe a point to one-up them. I don't think it was competitive in the sense that Tipperary challenged Galway to give it their all, I think Tipperary failed to break the static playstyle of Galway.

>>78270938
>It was a tense match though, I was on edge the entire time.
The only tense part was the last few minutes where Galway's patience almost ran out and Tipperary had the chance to break their confidence or edge them out. In the end they did neither.
IMO it's a mistake to mistake a steady one-point difference in score for a tense match, because it's pretty apparent that that's what Galway were going for. To paraphrase, the only decisive point was the last one.

That's odd, because I would have said the exact opposite, only with Tipp sniping the scores to draw level with Galway.

>I don't think it was competitive in the sense that Tipperary challenged Galway to give it their all, I think Tipperary failed to break the static playstyle of Galway.

>That's odd, because I would have said the exact opposite, only with Tipp sniping the scores to draw level with Galway.
I suppose it might depend on perspective. I wanted Galway to win, so there's my bias.
I thought Tipp tried harder and put more emphasis on getting into Galway's side of the field, whereas Galway's failures to get into Tipp's area were defined by being undermanned and uncoordinated in terms of passing. Hence I put Galway's score victory down to their sniping.

>Everybody I've been talking to since has been marveling at the game.

no I am in DIT but its a flat rate too so thats why I thought
>>
>>78271472
>I thought Tipp tried harder and put more emphasis on getting into Galway's side of the field
I agree there. Galway's weakest element was definitely their full back line. Tipp knew that if they could get the ball there, scores were inevitable. The problem was that Galway were very good in the midfield and Tipp had adopted a man placement strategy (commented on by Cummins on the Sunday game that night) that robbed them of the ability to feed ball into the full forwards.

>whereas Galway's failures to get into Tipp's area were defined by being undermanned and uncoordinated in terms of passing
Tipp's defense was uncharacteristically strong on the day, but Galway just decided to bypass it due to their dominance in the midfield.

>>78271590
Galway prevented Tipperary from getting more scores than their location would have entitled them to, in my opinion. It wasn't a clever way of winning though, since it seemed to me to depend on the strength and stamina of the defenders to surround the targets of Tipperary passes. Towards the end I got the impression that they were lagging slightly, but by that point the defence in depth strategy wasn't the way to win the game, getting points in the last few seconds was.

>>78271625

>It wasn't a clever way of winning though, since it seemed to me to depend on the strength and stamina of the defenders to surround the targets of Tipperary passes
If it produces a win, can it really be deemed to be not a clever strategy?

>Towards the end I got the impression that they were lagging slightly, but by that point the defence in depth strategy wasn't the way to win the game, getting points in the last few seconds was.
Tipp were definitely the superior team in the last 5-10 mins (which is odd because they are notorious for finishing poorly), but they too were exhausted so they couldn't quite exploit the growing weakness in Galway. But sure Canning was only hitting his stride in the last 10 minutes too.

Season 9 episode 2 is the real cut off point in my view, though there are a few straggler classic moments in the follow 3 or 4 seasons, but I can't think of any classic "episodes".

I still think they should have gone ahead with making a series with the format of 22 Short Films About Springfield and ended The Simpsons there. It was barely hanging on once all the good writers went to Futurama and Andy Dick killed Phil Hartmann.

At this point it's just waiting for one of the main actors to die. Even though their ratings are low it's still a cash cow.
The real fear is the inevitable revival that comes 10 years after it does die.

>The real fear is the inevitable revival that comes 10 years after it does die.
Its quality couldn't be any worse than what we have now. The only difference is they might update the characters and make them new again rather than bury their classic personas under new stuff.
It won't happen, because the current series makes money, but if they updated the Simpsons children to early-20s and Homer to nearing retirement age, it might be more interesting than the absolute ciphers that pass for characters.

>>78276280
I think it's big mistake that they never aged the characters as the showed progressed, if the show was based as a counter or parody of the 80s family sitcom it'd have made sense for the family to age as the show progressed.
>>
>>78276437
Well, it worked fine up until season 9, where they refused to advance time, but changed important characters for the worse (most notably Seymour and Maude). But the show has been severely over the hill for longer than it was great, so it would have been a good idea to start at some point, but they didn't because they're creatively bankrupt and just a money spinner at this point.
>>
>>78276437
Stranger still they aged up Selma's baby and Apu's kids. Despite being born in the events of the series they're now older than Maggie.
>>
>>78276627
To be fair, Maggie not aging is a long-running gag in the series. In the classic era, in shots of the future, I think Maggie has only ever aged twice.
>>
>>78276553
I suppose they could always do a Rugrats and have a spinoff show set 15 years in the future. I'm actually surprised they never tried some sort of spinoff show, if they gave Sideshow Bob or someone his own show it would have been huge back in the day.

>>78276627
I'd say it's because Maggie is an alien baby like Kang and Kodos but then I suppose the treehouse episodes weren't canon.
I'm drawing a blank on Selma, who did she have the baby with? Was it Troy McClure?
>>
>>78276783
>I suppose they could always do a Rugrats and have a spinoff show set 15 years in the future.
I thought the Rugrats show was alright, but they overshot their potential target audience by ~2 years, and went too realistic. The realistic adult-friendly humour worked well with the surrealism of talking toddlers, but that left a hole when it was 14 year olds.
>>
>>78276758
>in shots of the future, I think Maggie has only ever aged twice
In the ones I remember like Lisa's Wedding she was an adult but never spoke.

>>78276783

Adopted from China.
>>
I'm going to stream the first sailor moon musical from 1993 in about 30 minutes when my food arrives if anybody is interested.

>>
>>78276783
>I'm drawing a blank on Selma, who did she have the baby with? Was it Troy McClure?
She adopted a Chinese baby because that's the kind of thing women in the social circles of the post-decline Simpsons would do.
The Simpsons went from being a satire of middle class life based on insider understanding, to just another show where the proto-SJW US urban elite broadcast their conception of the world onto the eyes of the middle class.

>In the ones I remember like Lisa's Wedding she was an adult but never spoke.

Cork fans only seem to be comfortable if they're brooding in misery or involved in some sort of crisis.
I couldn't get over the behaviour of their fans in Football this season, they lost to Kerry who were league champions and undoubtedly one of the top 2 teams in the country and then proceeded to throw all toys out of the pram because they only narrowly beat a lesser team in the qualifiers (often happens, a win is a win) until it reached the point where their fans didn't even bother to travel to watch them play Mayo because they feared for a hiding.
In reality they were excellent that day and brought them to extra time only barely losing, you could make a case from there that Cork are as good as any other team in Football outside of the top 4 but apparently that still equates to dogshite down in Cork.
It was almost as if Cork fans wanted to lose that game or they'd be without a reason to sack the manager and moan and complain for the rest of the year.

Reading a bit of the ole Meditations lads, might become an aul Stoic.

>If one of the gods informed you, "You will die tomorrow or, at any rate, the day after tomorrow", you would consider it no great matter whether it were the day after tomorrow rather than tomorrow, unless indeed you were a terrible coward, for the difference is minimal; so likewise, consider it no great matter whether you will die after many a long year rather than tomorrow.

>Be like the headland, with wave after wave breaking against it, which yet stands firm and sees the boiling waters round it fall to rest. "Unfortunate am I that this has befallen me." No, quite the contrary: "Fortunate am I, that when such a thing has befallen me, I remain undisturbed, neither crushed by the present nor afraid of what is to come." For such a thing could have happened to anyone, but not everyone would have remained undisturbed in the face of such a blow.

ubuntu isnt bloated at all compared to any version of windows. Vanilla ubuntu might be a bit bloated due to Unity.
For a "classic" ubuntu look go for Ubuntu MATE or Ubuntu GNOME
