The only way to die with one of those, is if your use metal pipes. Then a broken resistor can kill you when you touch the metal.

Hot water and cold water comes from different sources iirc. If we mixed them together then it would mix cold drinkable water with potentially unsafe hot water and I say that lightly as it's not likely to actually be contaminated or shit water, but there's always a possibility. Newer houses have single tap systems. It's shit, we all know.
