Did Elvery's not have them? There's one in the front of the Eyre Square center that's hard to miss but it's pretty small. There's a bigger one over by the cinema with a big Lifestyle Sports next to it. It's not out of the way or anything but I suppose a tourist wouldn't think a big retail park would back that way.

How long was he here for? Was it for anything in particular or just a holiday? Was he only in Galway or was it just a stop? Did he only stay in the city or did he explore the county a bit?

saudi arabia has the quran as its constitution to the letter, lad. you know, that holy scripture that all muslims tend to adhere to and get their belief systems from? saudi arabia is also host to the religion's holiest city that every muslim is required to make a pilgrimage to once in their lifetime if they're physically able to do so. you're going to tell me next that saudi arabia are just some splinter group like ISIS or an extremist minority who just misinterpret the book next
>>
>>78120414
While not mandated by the religion it's still common for christians to visit holy sites in Israel which I don't think should be taken as them being complicit to the Israeli governments actions against human rights.
You could hardly say Shia muslims are supportive of the Saudi regime when they're in constant conflict with one another.
>>
>>78120675
you're focusing on saudi arabia as a regime when that's not the point i'm trying to make. the point is that their country is entirely a product of islam, as are many others in that area of the world. it's an extremely dangerous religion and ideology that has no place in a civilized society. look at the amount of polls of muslims that are taken in countries like the UK. large percentages of them would support sharia law, punishing homosexuals with death and wouldn't report a potential extremist in their community to the local police. it's fucking sickening
>>
>>78120868
I don't disagree but I'd see that as a problem with religion in general. Remember homosexuality was only decriminalised in this country in the 90's while there are clearly many Irish who wouldn't object to that still being the case today. Blasphemy is still legally punishable in this country as well.
In terms of following the quran to the letter I think we'd find similar disastrous results from a country following the bible exactly too. Most muslim countries have more moderate laws than Saudi Arabia so it's an extreme example.

I agree with your sentiment though that any immigrants moving to western society need to be willing to adapt to local values and pushing customs from their old background should never be accepted.

But is it the misnaming or the ridicule which upsets you?

>>78123972
The misnaming. I think it's stupid and is only ever used by smug reddit-types. What do you actually achieve by calling him "Drumpf" instead of "Trump" other than associating yourself with an awfully annoying group of people?
>>
>>78124060
So you would never do anything like referring to Trudeau as "weedman" for example?
>>
>>78124094

>>
>>78124094
Calling Trudeau "Weedman" because his stance on marijuana is representative of his trendy liberal social policy (that I somewhat disagree with) isn't the same as calling Trump by an old Scottish version of his surname just because you think it makes him sound stupid (somehow).
>>
>>78123699
>>78123972
>>78124094
Yeah, I'm with the other guy; it just smacks of a bizarre smugness I can hardly define. Calling Trudeau "Weedman", which I've never done myself, at least relates to some aspect of his character and behaviour. Calling Trump "Drumpf" is like being in 5th class and thinking you're the coolest for calling a guy named Richard "Dick".
>>
>>78124295
Both are names intended to mock their character, I'm sure it's more than a coincidence the one you protest against represents the ideology and group of people you're sympathetic towards.

To be honest, Trudeau seems like decent guy. I have nothing against him personally, I just disagree with some of the cornerstones of his social policy. Anybody who uses "Drumpf" just means it as a personal insult and nothing more - because that's all it is.

For the record, I disagree with a load of Trump's policies and he is a bit of an oaf - I just preferred him to Hillary during the election. I have zero loyalty to him or most his ideology.
>>
>>78124400
>>78124638
>Anybody who uses "Drumpf" just means it as a personal insult and nothing more - because that's all it is.
I would say it's mostly just meme decoration for a dubious, yet funny character. You're attaching a lot of extra sentiment behind it which probably isn't intended when used on this site.
>>
>>78124922
>You're attaching a lot of extra sentiment behind it which probably isn't intended when used on this site.
I can't help associate with it redditors though (and with good reason; that's where the word became popular.). It may well be used as a meme on 4chan, but it just casts the person who uses it here in a dubious light, regardless of the nature of their actual stance of on Trump.

>say the word drumpf
>multi-hour debate about it develops whilst I work
One of the reasons I use it is that I have a sneaking suspicion that bots roam these threads searching for words such as Trump and when they find it mentioned a bunch of alt-right yanks appear in the thread with spicy memes and assault rifles in hand.
Or perhaps that isn't the case and I'm just a bit paranoid...

>google says it originated from the John Oliver show though
I think that is correct. He used it as part of a hashtag campaign to belittle him or something during the election? Not 100% sure.
On the topic of Oliver, I find it quite funny how /pol/ and alt-right supporters get so butthurt over him.
Take for example his latest episode just last weekend, which discussed the US border patrol.
Everyone instantly looked at the title and assumed "John Oliver wants open borders, let all the refugees, Muslims, terrorists and drug cartels flood in", which was completely inaccurate.
All he discussed was the standard of recruitment within the border patrol.
>>
>>78128462
I wouldn't say it's bots, there was a huge influx of phoneposting alt right onto the site over the last 3 years from a mixture of gamergate, brexit and the US elections who flooded themselves across the site (except for the anime boards) so there's probably a modest chance any randomer who sees a post like that on the front page will be deeply invested on the subject.

>On the topic of Oliver, I find it quite funny how /pol/ and alt-right supporters get so butthurt over him.
Just the usual shouting down of someone perceived as having opposing views, they do it god knows how many times on a given day so I suppose don't have time to actually review the content first. It's why /pol/ is so redundant as a place for discourse given how much of an echo chamber it is.

My issue with John Oliver is that he isn't funny. He comes off as genuinely angry a lot of the time and that really kills the positive vibe you should be getting from a comedian.
The show isn't serious enough to be a proper political discussion and it isn't funny enough to be good comedy. It's not the only show like that out there, in fact they're now becoming way too widespread, even Des Bishop has one. I blame young people now that have a pop interest in politics.

Colbert at least has been doing it for a long time, it isn't a new thing in the US though there does seem to be a lot of them at it now.
I like Oliver personally, I see his shows as more informational than about the punchlines and he tends to tackle important and something lesser covered topics rather than going for the cheap laughs like an SNL type production. I thought his videos on net neutrality were quite well made.

>even Des Bishop has one
That was dreadful, I think we badly need a show like that to help engage young people into the political process more but that didn't work out at all. As per usual RTE hires people who peaked about 15 years ago to put something like that together.

Ah right, misread that somehow. But the answer is actually quite simple: Of the two available candidates, when everything was taken into consideration, I disliked Trump the least. As I said before, that doesn't mean I like him or support everything he says (far from it), but I just found Hillary and her supporters to be very repulsive both in terms of who they where and what they supported ideologically. Also, there was much more potential for political entertainment/chaos if Trump was elected.

Bit funny that we are hosting a world cup and all they can get is 3,000.

>Dublin is best understood by exploring its many divisions, its unending physical and mental boundaries. The city, and its current champion, McGregor, are defined by those limits. It's a clannish, parochial place. Crossing the wrong street has traditionally been reason enough for an ass-whipping. Men have had to drop dates off at bus stops instead of walking them all the way home.
>The neighboring, rival communities of Crumlin and Drimnagh are within the gritty Dublin 12 postcode, separated only by Crumlin Road, which runs on an east-west diagonal. Sutcliffe, who boxed in the 1980 and '84 Olympics, wanted to train in the Crumlin gym, which had better coaches. He beat up men who tried to stop him from crossing Crumlin Road.

It's actually the only part of the EU that made it into the new canon. Tied in more with Ahsoka and Captain Rex being prominent characters in Rebels, with Rebels being tied into Rogue One.
Kinda stupid in some ways since Tartakovsky's Clone Wars fit perfectly in the films, even giving General Grievous a reason for his coughing, while TCW contradicts them by having Obi-Wan and Grievous meet and fight many times despite Grievous saying it's the first time they met in RotS.

Though I think they've also said anything in the EU that doesn't contradict the new canon is still in, until it gets cannibalised for ideas that is.
