Is it english*
>>78025133
why?
I don't see how French would be less expressive than English. It's not like, I dunno, Russian or Chinese where it takes less words to say the same thing.

It is though. Many english words, particularly verbs, are really intuitive. They just make sense, they almost sound like onomatopoeias
>>78025269
Can you give any examples and their French equivalents?
>>78025326
flash - éclat
die - mourir
happy - heureux
smear - étaler
kill - tuer
knife - couteau
whole - entier
punch - frapper
stamp - cachet
I had many more obvious and simpler examples but i forgot them
but you get the point anyway
>>78025596
also those ones
why - pourquoi
how - comment
complete - complet
splash - éclabousser
>>78025596
>>78025674
I like "éclabousser"
>>78025752
It's stupid to have such a long word when you have just "splash"
My favourite French word is "Pomme de terre" it means apple of the ground, one day i will go to France and eat one of these apples.

Are you still thinking about why it happened, why english got the upper hand and french descended into obscurity?
I know you are, I know you better than you know yourself.
Don't think too much about it, here, numb the pain with some alcohol and remember the good old days.

>numb the pain with some alcohol and remember the good old days.
but you know that doesn't work, anon
>>78026232
>tfw you always learned that it was "pomme de terre" in mandatory French classes in school, but then go to Quebec and everyone calls them "potate"
>>78026430
I know, anon, I know, I don't know what happened, it went all too fast, it's like a new spectre that blows through Europe, nay, the world. I know it hurts, as it is everything French should have been, and would have been, in a better world.
Maybe perhaps once, in the end of days, when God banishes the devil and his angels for good from this worls, then I'm sure His first choice will be french for the world anon.
Until then, you and I, can't else but pass the bottle again, and picture the good old days...
