Why can't Americans write novels?

Is there a single worthwhile piece of American ``literature?" If so, I haven't found it. I get the impression that Americans are simply shite at observing people and observing life, so they have to mask it with experimental structures and syntactical flourishes.

Ubik is the only science fiction novel i love. Maybe it is because it's barely a sci-fi novel, but more of a philosophical novel.

I loved that novel man.
I watched that biopic about Wolfe with Jude Law and started reading the novel just right after. The film makes a good job selling him as a genius author tbqh
