well if it happened today, i would guess there would be a lot of animosity between mexicans and americans because of how different both countries are in terms of culture, wealth, and language

Terrible at first, but could eventually be great. If the cartels and CIA drug running aren't immediately eliminated, we'd probably end up like Brazil.
