English is an excellent language for literature and poetry. It has an enormous vocabulary and an incredible variety of sounds that give it an expressive power that I don't think Japanese can match, mostly because of how formulaic Japanese is (majority of adjectives have the same ending, every verb rhymes etc) and it's relative lack of sounds.
