I've thought about the Native American flag issue quite a bit, and I've come to the conclusion that sorting the flags under the jurisdictions they exist in - be it states or counties - is too fraught with confusion due to the complicated legal nature of Native American territory. Accordingly, I've decided this option isn't the best course to take.

What I'm currently thinking of is maintaining the current system of filing reservations under "Indian County". However, here's where the conundrum arises for me. The current flag used to represent "Indian Country" is the flag of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). Relations between the BIA and Native Americans were historically very poor and I doubt any Native on a reservation wanting to use their tribal flag is going to appreciate posting under the BIA flag. The alternative, I think, is to replace the BIA flag with the flag of The American Indian Movement, which is the next best thing I can think of to represent Native American country as a whole. Pic related.

With that being said, I realize this is likely going to be a politically and racially charged issue which is why I'm reluctant to even bring it to the thread in the first place or even raise a vote on it. Given the political and sociological leanings of what I've experienced from most people on the site, I'm already presupposing the outcome of the vote, regardless, I'll submit a link anyway. http://www.strawpoll.me/13619565

Regardless of which way people choose to vote, I will say this much. While it's unlikely we're going to have authentic Native posters in the first place, the flag of the BIA isn't going to encourage Native posters in the rare event that they decide to post.

Final thing which needs to be said: this only solves the flags for American Indians. Reservations in other countries - Central America and Canada - will still need to be discussed. That's all.

Just to add on to everything I said before, the BIA is technically the more official flag since they manage and administer Native land which is held in trust, meaning reservations are semi autonomous.

The reason I presented the alternative is because:

1. It represents all Native Americans in the US
2. Native Americans are more likely to want to post under it for reasons listed above
