depends whether emotional impact on those who care about you is greater than the benefit of you not being around. If the detriment to others is greater than the ending of your own suffering then it is a selfish act to kill yourself, otherwise its a mercy. So its a glass half full/half empty issue... assuming you have people who care about you.

Does it matter? it's equally selfish to just want a person to go on living for them. Selfishness does not equal bad.
