You use 学(Which lacks the double crosses representing learning), 体 (which is originally a variant of 笨 aka stupid), yet you don't talk about them(they have been criticized too). BTW 学 in Simplified chinese was simply copied from shinjitai, as with some other characters originally with a filled 臼 such as 誉

Japan is using a custom version of simplification “shinjitai", some which overlap with simplified chinese such as 学,国,禀. Unique ones include 仏,鉄,図,竜。Some mergers are also in place just like simplified chinese, eg. 計劃〉計画。
I won't even call Macau, HK, TW etc using Traditional chinese. TW even accepts common variants like 台.
For example, 雷 was originally 靁 hence lei2 in pinyin(from 畾),but all these 'traditional chinese' users uses 雷 now.
