Both all the pros said that basic was the hardest part. Considered continuing, but decided that it wasn't the part I wanted to go. Also I didn't "quit", just did my voluntary conscription which consists of 4 months of basic training only, in Denmark we have limited seats for pro soldiers who choose to continue, the rest just leave (which is like 50%-75% of all the conscripts).

No, we are forced to be there all the way through basic training, things just got a bit easier after the first two months. It was only during the last months or so that we also go any free time comparable to a normal workday ( still a couple of hours less, and that's excluding cleaning and other shit we had to do every morning and evening after we were done). During basic training we could choose to either go to sergeant school or "advanced training" both of which lasted 8 months or so. If you didn't choose either while you were there you were free after basic training. I didn't choice either, which is why I didn't continue.
