I'm still not sure what his purpose in the movie was. It wouldn't have changed one single bit had he not gotten on the boat in the first place.

>It was but it was executed very boringly
I certainly didn't find it that way. There was a bit of an odd lull in the middle after the Destroyer was sunk and the lads were back on the beach, but other than that I was fully engaged throughout.

>and much too focused on the "efforts" of "plucky Bloighty"
While it was true that the contribution of the civilian fleet is exaggerated in the film, it was still a ballsy evacuation on the part of the Brits. Only by a combination of luck, French tenacity, and sheer British determination is Dunkirk considered to have been a successful evacuation.

>And the individual ensemble cast plots were boring.
I don't think they were ever meant to be particularly interesting.

Ignoring the fact that I accidentally said "attractive" instead of "unattractive" (I genuinely think I'm retarded when it comes to typing), even in the realm of 2D perfection, one should have standards. Dunkirk was a clumsy ness. Nolan should stick to cape shit.

I feel like Dunkirk, Inception and Interstellar are the kind of movies that are specifically crafted to appear smarter than they actually are. He uses non linear narratives to make people curious enough to watch the movie more than once. That's honestly the only reason I can guess why he wrote the film that way. More visits by confused proles = more $$$

So long as you have realistic expectations towards VR then go for it. It's a rich persons toy for novelty, some interesting unique experiences and a fun talking point with others or to show off to people who'll likely have never used anything like it. It's definitely not something you're going to get hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of compared to a proper gaming system but that's fine so long as you weren't expecting that.

I'm only easing into it slowly. I've only just built up enough gear to feel comfortable approaching the aurora wreckage.
The thing that scared me most was when I went over 500meters deep for the first time and a Mesmer jumped me in a cavern. I know thats babby-tier but it scared me so much.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZ8uNuRk-Bo
Also I had this random hallucination while crafting in my Lifepod. Not sure if that was part of the storyline or what.
I've heard there are so many crazy encounters and most are very rare.
Of course I've come across lots of hostile sharks, and those big things with the jaws but wouldn't really call that scary.
I'm scared of the big alien fucking things that might appear.
The OST is top notch too and the graphics are 100 emoji.

You start off with just a knife but you can end up making rifles and guns, and eventually huge submarines and dive suits etc. The crafting seems to be a huge part of the game. In storymode it takes a while to learn everything and find blueprints. But you can just play creative mode if you like with everything unlocked.
I highly recommend this game.

How much do they teach viking history in Scandinavia anyways? I've seen so many Danes, Norse and Swedes get basic things wrong like thinking all or most of Ireland was under viking control. >For more than a dozen years in the middle of the 9th century, most of the Viking raids in Ireland appear to have been part of a co-ordinated effort to conquer the country on behalf of the King of Laithlind. If later accounts are to be believed, this campaign was initially masterminded by a warlord referred to in Irish annals as Turgesius, Turgéis or Turges.[9] According to the medieval Icelandic historian Snorri Sturluson, Thorgils was a son of the first King of Norway Haraldr hárfagri (Harald Fairhair).[10] However, that this son of Harald should be Turgesius is chronologically impossible, as Harald was born around 851. Turgesius’s identity remains uncertain to this day. Some commentators have identified him with the semi-legendary Danish warlord Ragnar Lodbrok.[11] According to Saxo Grammaticus,[12] Ragnar raided Ireland, killing a king called Melbricus. This has been identified with a raid on Conaille Muirthemne in 831 in which the king Máel Brigte was abducted by Vikings.[13] Turgesius has also been identified with a son of GuÞfriÞ or Gudfred, the Danish king who fought against Charlemagne between 804 and 810.[14]

>In 851 a significant development took place: "The Dubgenti came to Áth Cliath, made a great slaughter of the Findgaill, and plundered the naval encampment, both people and property."[34] It is believed that this refers to the first appearance in Ireland of a new faction of Vikings. Called the Dubgaill or Dubgenti ("Dark Foreigners" or "Dark Gentiles"),[35] these were possibly Scandinavians of Danish or Anglo-Danish origin who hoped to take advantage of the shifting fortunes of the town's inhabitants, known as the Findgaill or Findgenti ("Fair Foreigners" or "Fair Gentiles"),[36] who were possibly Scandinavians of Norwegian origin

It really does though. Back in the winter we had tons of Nordies and foreign flags and there were deep threads about politics, history, and the human condition, as well as original memes and better reaction images.

I don't see the problem with user recognition as long as they are not avatarposting (in the actual sense of the term) or trip-posting. But acting like one owns the thread would definitely be a problem, and I do agree that there are a couple of users here recently who seem intent on doing that (although there has nearly always been at least one person like that on /éire/ at any given time).

So, if the anime image attached was to disappear then the posts would become insightful and profound? Face it, the anime posting is symptomatic, not causative of any problem you have with modern /éire/. You just target the anime images because it is the most visible symptom and you've latched onto it as your scapegoat. Ask yourself: Why isn't there better discussion on /éire/? No, because these are the people who cause this weak level of discussion. There used to be a greater proportion of non-anime posters, and discussion was better.

I do agree about the anime problem being symptomatic of the low ability for intercourse weebs have, but if weebs didn't post 9 meaningless anime girl pics in 10 posts, and the "substance" of anime-posts was removed from these threads, the stultifying effect it has would be removed.

>I do agree about the anime problem being symptomatic of the low ability for intercourse weebs have
What? Are you just using this as an opportunity to blindly rail against weebs now?

>but if weebs didn't post 9 meaningless anime girl pics in 10 posts, and the "substance" of anime-posts was removed from these threads, the stultifying effect it has would be removed.
So now you're saying that ANYBODY that posts an anime image will only make low quality posts? Are you a bastion of high quality posts yourself? Seriously, if you have this much of a problem with anime-posting and weebs, I have no idea what you are doing on 4chan.

Kind of proving my point here, but the point is that if weeb posts add little by way of discussion, then if they understood that their block-faced pedophile cartoons don't make up for that, and couldn't or didn't post them as if they added substance to shitposts, they would either stop posting because they don't get the lizard-brain rush they get from it, and other weebs wouldn't rush to respond to the low-substance weeb posts to trigger that same part of their brains.

No, that's a leap. I was simply describing the cumulative effect that putting multiple weebs with low thresholds for posting quality together has. It creates a feeding frenzy of back-and-forth that consists of little more than "I want to see what anime pic you will post next".
