Regional accents are getting less and less defined for some reason. The entire new generation has no southern twang like their parents/grandparents. Myself included

I disagree. When's the last time you've been to a big college? People are from all over the country but you wouldn't know it because they sound the exact same (barring international students)

A lot of our regional accents are pretty memetic, but you will notice them if you listen. There is no "General American" accent IRL.
