Russia never enjoyed the living standards of the US under socialism, but since adopting capitalism this gap has actually widened someone.

The Eastern Bloc was generally lean but comfortable. There's no evidence of Soviet malnutrition except for the two aforementioned periods. Soviet citizens were substantially less wealthy than Westerners but substantially wealthier than everybody else.

Not really. We had soviet arcades but they were more mechanical than digital. Nintendo game and watch knock offs were the only real videogames that a russian kid in the eighties would've had and they were scarce and expensive as well.

After the fall of the soviet union we gained access to Dendy (NES clone) and after that - PSone.
