It takes time to learn, but in return you're rewarded with all of the above pros.
Writing by hand could take longer
Whats your reasoning Koreans? Why not learn Hanja and bestow the Korean language back to it's great past?

I dunno if you are serious, but Hangul was actually created with the intention of improving literacy rates. Also, it's not like there can even be illiterate people in a rich country like Korea regardless of how difficult the writing system is.
