I don't know, must be a Filipino thing. It's curious they kept such a niche concept in the Philippines as merienda cena, must be because it's still in use in the Chabacano creolle.

anyway, merienda cena is usally a very light meal, you eat it when is too late for merienda (tea) and too soon for cena (dinner/supper). Usually a sandwich, yoghurt or a piece of fruit is enough.
