Why is it that the English language names of many countries differ extremely from what people from said countries call their country?
A couple of examples:
Albania is Shqipërisë in Albanian
China is Zhonggua in Chinese
India is Bhārat Gaṇarājya in Hindu
Sweden is Sverige in Swedish
Finland is Suomi in Finnish

"norway" is actually pretty true to what its supposed to mean, nordrvegr, "the northern way"

Because probably those names were know through other languages/countries.
For example, China, it went from Dzin (Qin dynasty, ancient Chinese) -> Cīna (Sanskrit) -> Chīn (Persian) -> China (Portuguese)
Thanks America, I much prefer being a New Regierungsbezirk Braunschweiger

>China comes from Qin
No
China comes from "Cina", a Sanskrit word.
"Cina" later become 'Sinae" in latin
It happens same in a lot of languages
