I can only remember two things regarding that:
- Daniel O'leary was loyal to Bolívar, to the point of not questioning his increasingly dictatorial position and even going to war against colombians for Bolívar

I was in Chile a few weeks ago and had no idea of the British involvement there. Before the Panama Canal was opened, Valparaiso was basically built by them, and was a hugely important trading port. We learn nothing about it in School here. Actually I'm woefully ignorant about South American history in general, other than surface level knowledge of the Spanish conquests, Bolivar and the American backed coups in the 20th century.
