Fascinating desu. My mother tongue has no noun genders but I know in Hindi "Bharat" and any country ending with "stan" are all masculine. Masculine is green here and feminine is violet for French names.
Das Deutschland?
Plural?
In German, most cunt names are neuter, with a few exceptions (Turkey, Slovakia, Switzerland... feminine. Iran, Yemen, Sudan,... masculine. Murrica, Netherlands, Maldives... plural).
Articles are only used generally if it's non-neuter, but also sometimes if it is neuter, kinda hard to explain

I don't know about Polish but in Russian (we call them niemcy too btw) that word means "mute people"

>Literally "Germans"
Isn't it literally "mute"? Like, unable to speak polish. We have it too.

The word itself means just "Germans" but it derives from "niemy" which means "mute person". I think it's the same in other Slavic languages as well.
Niemiec - German person
Niemcy - German people
Niemcy - Germany
Now that I wrote down the singular form, I feel "niemiec" might mean "mute person" as well, I just haven't heard it used in this context ever. We use the word "niemy" instead.
