You memorize it with a word, after a while it gets easy. Also learn common suffixes, -ung, -keit, -leit, -schaft etc., nouns ending in -e are usually female, exception Käse which is male (can't think of more rn), -chen and -lein are neuter etc. Other than that, learn a word with its gender and you're good to go until you develop a feeling for it.
