I've been browsing 4chan and other chans since 2007 and I still don't think I'm an oldfag.
I think if you want to be a proper internet oldfag you have to been a regular user of somethingawful prior to the creation of 4chan.
>>
>>77498688
I would have agreed but an awful lot of new people came to the site because of /pol/ over the last 3 years who are a very different breed of younger phoneposting people and I definitely think I have more in common with the ancient something awful people than I do with 18 year olds obsessed with gamergate and SJWs.
>>
>>77498688
With regards to 4chan, 2006 seems to be the oldfag cut-off point. Sometimes I wish I was on the internet during the 90's though. If you ever look at usenet posts from then through Google groups it looks comfy. It would also be nice to have played Quake online when it was fresh. That said dial-up was shit

Bit extreme, I don't mean to sound like a wrong generation type. I acknowledge the internet has gotten better since the 1990's, I was just saying how I would've liked to experience it a few times for the novelty. That said, I think the internet has also gotten worse since the 2000's. The 2000's internet was a happy-medium of having enough traffic for activity, good internet speeds but no phoneposters. People say smartphones and social media killed the internet but I'd say only smartphones are inherently bad. Like 10 years ago there was Bebo which everyone had but they only checked it like once or twice a day from a desktop computer. It wasn't ubiquitous or an extension of real life like it is today so it was fine by itself. Smartphones have also lead to developers aiming software and websites at phone users. Windows 8 showed this. You could also argue other factors have ruined the internet such as the internet getting centralised to the main websites or the increase in javascript but the smartphone stands out as the main problem currently

I moved out of my /b/ phase after a couple years on 4chan. I spent a huge amount of time contributing to /n/ and old /r9k/ before it was a place for bittervirgins to reeeeeeee.
It used to be a really interesting social board with lots of OC.
Moved onto browsing /a/ and /jp/ for years too. Now I only come to /éire/.

One thing I always thought was funny about this was seeing mutuals of lads I was friends with from school on Bebo. We are way more culturally relevant than we should be. We have two holidays celebrated internationally while most countries don't even have one. Think how weird it is that non-Catholic Japan has Paddy's Day parades while the US, probably the most relevant country in the world, doesn't have anyone else celebrate the Fourth of July or Thanksgiving (Canada doesn't count their Thanksgiving is different). Hell England once controlled a third of the globe yet how many countries have Saint George's Day parades?

I wonder how different we'd be had the famine not occurred and thousands fled for America, leaving a strong Gaelic imprint on it.

It's "suggested" by management to "put in a few extra hours at the office" to get the project finished on time. Anybody is free to leave whenever they want, but we have a deadline and it isn't being met without copious amounts of overtime from everybody. I also know for a fact that management uses the amount of "voluntary" overtime completed as a metric in determining pay rises and promotions.
>>
>>77502132
Yeah same. I got home so late every night and got maybe 4-5 hours sleep.

Depends on the job really. I don't know what his is but in mine if we get a job to do 15 minutes before finish time we start it and can't just leave it be once home time comes. might take 2 hours to finish it.

That sounds about right. Our team manager publishes all our accepted overtime during periods like that and circulates it in a ranking table to the rest of the team with the intent of shaming those who took little or none. They use every tactic in the book to create a sense of competition between colleagues to out-work one another.
There was nothing more depressing than those overtime weeks, it felt like I wasn't living a life at all. Do they push it on you often?

Reminds me of my old líníocht teacher, he got fairly mad when I didn't want to stay after school to work on my Leaving Cert project. The one time I did stay behind I made fuckall progress anyways. Since he was also the woodwork teacher his temper was a bit high so passive aggressive from him was quite aggressive by the standards of the average person. Think something like:
>Oh you know you don't want to stay that's fine but you'll FAIL AND YOU'LL BE OUT THE DOOR WITH NO DEGREE BEHIND YOU

Overall he didn't treat me half as bad as some other people. He'd smash T-squares and shite while giving out to someone for screwing around. He once threatened to put a lad's head in the clamp, that lad grew up to become the lord mayor of Dublin.

Jesus, that's brutal. I would say that there'd be war if they tried that at my workplace, but given that so many of my colleagues seem to think overtime is a great thing, they probably wouldn't have a problem with such rankings.

The problem is team leaders are metric ranked among each other as well for how many hours of overtime they manage to get their team to perform for their pay rises and promotions too. It's a horrible system which promotes everyone pushing one another to the brink.

>so many of my colleagues seem to think overtime is a great thing
Normies seem to love more pay at any cost to their personal life. I know of one guy who expressed disappointment that he was "only" allowed to work 60 hours a week. I've never understood it, I'd happily take slots of undertime for less pay if such a concept existed.

When normal people have something go wrong in their lives they have to deal with it. A teacher on the other hand can take out their anger on a class of children too young/obedient/scared to talk back, and if they do they'll get in trouble.
I don't think it's just power hungry freaks that become teachers but being in a position of power over dozens of people that can't fight back messes with your mind. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and all that.

Nah. Low body fat percentage and high lean muscle ratio (especially so for a woman) thanks to her system being flushed of estrogen and flooded with testosterone make her look "hard", but women have naturally less density in both their muscle and bones so any male who has some level of either muscle or weight could HEEM any "FTM", just like any "MTF" could HEEM the vast majority of women.

I think you underestimate how much Irish people love funerals. There are people that attend every funeral in the area even when they have no relation to the person that died.
Besides I have a lot of cousins I'm good friends with, as long they all don't die I should have a decent attendance

Actually that should be our witch-hunt style test for Dubs when the Happening breaks Dublin's stranglehold on the rest of the country; throw the person into the sea. If they swim back to shore, they're not a Dub. If they swim for the UK, they are and must promptly heed the calls of the magistrate to return to shore for summary execution.
