From my job, I make $18 per hour.
From the government, I get $500 per month for studying (free money).

My total income averages out yearly at something like $1800 per month.

When I have finished my studies, I am expected to get a starting salary of $4200 per month, with a rather steep curve following it.

Life is rather good to me.

Nice nice, lucky you. How are real estate prices in Sweden? Are they as fucked as here (you literally won't find a tiny appartment <450k, houses start at 1.5M).
>>
>Flag
>Code monkey
>700€ per month
>>
>>77451487

They're various degrees of fucked, depending on where you look. It's the worst near the capital. But they're not nearly as fucked as on the continent, to be honest. You can still get a cozy house in the vicinity of a major city for a reasonable price, if you have some patience. Or you make sacrifices.

This house is about 400k euro. It's semi-detached, and inside the Stockholm metropolitan area. Not too bad, honestly. But I wouldn't want to live there, personally. I'd prefer a house in a more prime location, in which case it gets Swiss tier I suppose.

https://svenskamaklarhuset.se/objekt/?gid=OBJ24548_1550148086#allabilder

There are lots of interesting properties in countryside however. You can literally find huge mansions for the same kind of money, if you're willing to live near a small to mid tier city instead of near the capital.

What's there to explain? An average wage outside of Moscow is 340$.
Being a mechanical engineer (master's degree) with little to no experience it's impossible to get more than 200$. With 3 to 5 years years experience I will get around 250$ with a perspective for a raise up to 320$ in a few years.

Food is 150$
Rent is 35-40$
If you're lucky by the end of the month you'll break even.

If I will move to Moscow and get lucky with a job there I will get around 850$ a month.

>How hard is it for foreigners from Europe or the EU to obtain a USA working permit?
It's my understanding that it's nearly impossible.
>Also how's the state with metalworking industry, with the workforce to be exact? I suspect the demand in the field is quite high.
There's demand, but there's also a large labor pool. If you're drug-free (including cannabis, even where legalized), then that's a definite advantage. American manufacturing isn't totally dead; you just need to know how to use robots as well as your hands.
If you're a well-rounded fabricator, you'll find work anywhere, and income will vary regionally and with experience/skill set. If all you can do is run CNC, then don't expect >$15/hr.
>I've never really bothered to check the options in the US.
It might be worth it. Find businesses owned by Croatian-Americans, and you might be able to milk muh heritage to get an employment sponsor. That would help significantly. All of the blue collar Europeans I've known had connections in the US that helped them immigrate.
>>

For researcher, you have to get your undergrad and/or master's in an area that teaches research methods (like psychology). Right now it's hard to break into specifically because a lot of companies don't have UX/UI people- it's an emerging field. It's a bitchin' job, though. You just run studies every other week based on what PMs and designers want, write up the results in a powerpoint presentation, then present them. And it pays ridiculously well.

How old are uni students on average in UK/US?
>>
>>77465709
Normally start at 18 and leave at 21 or w/e but apparently a quarter of uni students are 'mature' which I presume means older than average.

I'm 24, was miserable at my school so left to do A levels at college after GCSEs, ended up doing other stuff and never got my a levels.

Now I'm sort of fucked, a levels need time to study them, as do btecs. There are other ways into unis here though, quite a few will look at your circumstances and judge whether you can join. I'm going to contact a few and see if working at an electronics company would be sufficient experience to do electronics engineering at uni and how long I would need to work in the industry for etc.
