I think Korea is the 'nicest' in the way of modern, clean, safe and orderly. Japan, well, Tokyo in particular is my favourite Asian city that I've visited because whilst it's still very safe and comfy, some areas are a bit gritty and left to their own devices if that makes sense, Roppongi (when you leave the club areas) and Shinjuku for example, they don't feel like project cities or tourist traps, they just feel like a place natives live and do their own thing.

I'm not Korean, I'm a tourist. It's nice in the sense that is is very clean (sterile if you want to be negative), orderly and lots of shops, there's a reason most of the tourists here are quite similar. Lots of girls who might be K-pop fans or struggling models (think, not quite good enough to model in the west), old men and 'fashionable' people. another type seems to be non-korean asian americans who want to pretend they're Korean.

Korea feels like a show home and Japan feels like the house next door that's been lived in for a few years.

Yeah I know what you mean, but there's still a pretty positive point of view of white people (I put that down to Asians not judging everyone for a few bad people). I know that old foreigners in sandals get mobbed at some SEA airports which is pretty hilarious. backpackers are the fucking worst, I got sat next to one on my flight here, he was putting his feet up on the chairs, jumping over the middle aged Korean man sat next to him, taking his shoes off, sleeping and resting his head on people, it was disgusting. Worst part is I was sat next to him and we were 2 of maybe 5 foreigners on the flight so it's almost guaranteed people thought we were related haha.

There's a lot to be said for being humble as a tourist anywhere you go, I know that I can go anywhere and I won't be considered a nonce, ugly, creepy or anything like that but I've still been incredibly polite and humble and it's made my time here really, really good. It's the people who live in the country you're visiting that make it such a nice place to be so it boggles my mind why you'd be such a prick to them. If it's any solace it's almost always the uglier, runtier, saddos back home that act like megastars in Asia. The 'better quality' ones are always a bit more pleasant from my experience.
