Not sure if you are aware of this, but Brits owned (and still own a lot) of caribbean islands who have infinitely more british influence than any country in south america. To put my country as an example, in the island of san Andres, thousands of people talk English as their mother tongue. Also, it is no coincidence that also the lower class in those countries you mentioned happen to have anglified names.
