How much time do you have to spend? Have you been to Europe before? Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Berlin and London are entry level destinations to Europe, though expensive to visit. Eastern Europe is cheaper and has some pretty fascinating places, I particularly love the Baltic countries.

Depending on how much time you have, you could arrive somewhere, and then do multiple destinations in multiple countries. Paris-Benelux-Berlin-Prague-Munich-Paris with 3-4 days in each (just an example) sounds like a nice trip to me if you have the time and the money, and you would get a pretty good taste of the continent.

Been to U.K., France, Italy, Switzerland and Turkey. In terms of infustructue and elbow room they're all practically third world countries compared to America except for Switzerland. I liked Turkey the best, but if you like old Roman or Catholic stuff do Italy. If you like old city feels Paris is nice. U.K. is meh just changing of the guards and whatnot. Switzerland is cool, they have some nice lakes and great pasteries. In the end of the day just do what seems most interesting to you. Also try the travel board they're actually pretty thorough in making sure random people on the internet have good times on vacation.

Oh and obviously the U.K is the only place where everyone has fluent English in Europe. I was suprised how little English some people spoke there.
